Hello!

Any post op gastric banders out there?!

I've got my op on 24th and starting to get a bit nervous but very excited about the future!

I'm on the milk diet and finding it quite tough, not as bad as I thought but I'm struggling with the salty drink as I can't stand gravy or anything like that!

Please help!

Hi Rebecca - good luck, I had my band fitted 2 days ago, so just starting the journey. I have just discovered this web page and will start a running commentary on how it goes. WIll be interested to hear how it works for you too

i had a band over 7 yrs ago so an old timer i suppose - milk diet can be a toughy but just have everything you are allowed and space out the milky drinks so that you are never more than a couple of hrs from something to fill you up a bit - just bear in mind that this is your way of helping your surgeon carry out the op as easy as possible cos your liver will be reduced and this helps with laprascopic procedures - if the op goes smoothly then this will surely help with yr recovery so its also kinda your way to help yourself too - its a means to an end and the wgt loss is an added bonus to shrinking your liver in readiness fo r  the op - i didnt have to have a salty drink in the version i had to follow - every hosp seems to have their own way of doing things but if you really cannot stomach it get back in touch to see if there is another option but it is probs something in it your body requires so dont miss it out - i was allowed low cal veg soup on my pre op diet so i suppose there would be salt in that - anyway not long now and good luck with the op
