Good luck Vanessa I'm 11 days away from having my first, starting to have a couple of anxious thoughts but keeping positive as well. All the best and here's hoping you have a speedy recovery.

I am so full of admiration for those of you who have two THRs in quick succession. Wishing you all the best.

    Oh good luck.

Perhaps the hospital will ensure you have a good nights sleep by making you watch the coverage of the referendum!!!

Well good luck and keep us posted! I had my 6 week check for my right side and set the date for my left on Aug 19th. Had to take a deep breath but it will be so great to have all this over with! All the best -sure you'll do great!

Well done Vanessa and thanks for reassuring me that I am not mad to consider the second hip soon.

Good luck and may your surgeon have careful and patient hands and your nurses be good-humoured and kind. And your family is to pamper you every bit as much as the first time.

    Hugs,

Hi Vanessa, I wanted to wish you luck and quick healing on your journey. It is rough going through one time but twice oh boy! I am 5 weeks post op from RTHR and also a fractured pelvis, and I will be setting my LTHR with my doctor when I see him on July 12th. I certainly can related to the panic and dread of those first few weeks. They were definitely painful and very tearful for me. I think the not being able to get around and function bothered me as bad as the pain. A lot of people have said that even when the same person has a second hip replacement they are not necessarily the same as the first one. So I hope it all goes very well for you, and that you have a wonderful recovery, reduced pain (and tears)...wishing you well......Barb...hugs

      Hi NPB,

I see my surgeon in July 13th to set the date for my RTHR! The right was a posterior surgery and I expect the same for this one too.

I hope you get a date that suits your wishes. I would like to go ahead be end summer to avoid recovering during ice and snow ( goodness, I don't like saying the 's' word in June )!😂

Let me know how you do. Best wishes. L

Thanks Linda, yep doesn't seem right saying the "s" word in June...lol....I hope yours goes well also. Mine Right was also posterior approach, and I assume my surgeon will end up doing the same on the left. So when I see him on the 12th of July going to have him go ahead and schedule it. He originally wanted to do it 8 weeks after the RTHR but when I saw him on my two week follow up I told him I wasn't sure if I would be ready by then or not, and he kind of agreed. Having found the fracture in the pelvic bone when he got in there and it was additional complications it may take a little while longer to heal. I feel that I am doing great though, and if it wasn't for my left hip being messed up I probably would be able to walk pretty well. I went to my doctor appointment today (by myself) and used only one crutch going in and out. I also went grocery shopping afterwards again only using one crutch to go in. I didn't use the ride on cart either, but pushed the shopping cart through the entire store. I did really well, and it is the first time in a few months that I have been able to walk through a grocery store without using the ride on cart (handicap cart). What an improvement. I also bagged my groceries and loaded them all by myself. It is so invigorating being able to do things I haven't been able to do for a while. I am dreading my second hip replacement surgery, but also looking forward to getting it over with. I just so want to be able to walk and function normal again....Let me know how you do also....Good luck......Barb
