Glans irritated after using skin oil + red frenulum

Posted , 22 users are following.

In the month March the foreskin was pulled back too far, while the glans was a bit dry. After that, the frenulum was red. There was no blood, no tear, it was just red. I gave it some rest, but unfortunately the red color did not disappear in the months later. 5 weeks ago i had the (stupid) idea to apply some Biodermal oil (comparable to bio-oil) on my frenulum because it contains a lot of vitamin and thought that it might cure the redness. The oil also touched the glans. Some time later i noticed that my glans was getting red and felt a tingling sensation in the glans. I decided to stop with it immediately and was hoping that it would cure soon again. I could still feel the burning sensation in my glans till 1,5 weeks later (especially after a shower) and since 1 week ago, (after a month), the tingling is finally over. However, the glans is still red. I read on the internet that this 'disorder' is called 'contact dermatitis' and mostly be treated with hydrocortisone cream. Now it is 5 weeks later. Do i need to have a bit more patience and the redness will go away slowly, or is it better to start with hydrocortisone cream and visiting a doctor?

Biodermal contains the following ingredients. Is it mainly the perfume which caused all these problems, or are there other ingredients i should worry about? Ethylhexyl Stearate, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Canola Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii Oil, Olus Oil, Panthenyl Triacetate, Camelina Sativa Oil, Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate,Tocopheryl Acetate, Tocopherol, Citric Acid, Parfum.

Thank you very much in advance!

    Hi all

Currently in a similar boat. Getting really fed up with it now. Have the heavy crack around the rim of head of penis. Latest cream I've been given is Trimovate, using for two weeks and no noticeable difference. Not sure if others have the same but mine issue also comes with some real soreness/pain (feels like someone squeezing head). Been tested multiple times for a variety of STD's and all negative im as lost as the list of doctors that have all had a go at trying to solve

    Anyone an update?

I am thinking about buying CBD/CBG oil this week and try it next weekend. These oils are very anti inflammatory and definitely worth a try in my opinion. I will post the results here. Let me know if somebody already have experience with CBD oil.

I received 1 bottle of CBD oil and 1 bottle of CBG oil today and going to try it this weekend, starting tomorrow. First i am going to try it with CBD oil, and if that doesn't give any results, i will add and try with CBG oil. I will update the outcome here.

I've been battling something similar for years - much worse in fact. It clears up, before coming back again.

A typical cycle would be, have sexual relations... become red and irritated with a series of bumps... the skins then sheds off... takes up to two weeks for the process to complete and to normalise. as you can imagine, this impacted my life materially during my late twenties.

Ive been prescribed hydrocortisone cream and Clotrimazole creams in the past... and perhaps a steriod cream 5 years ago also.

It appears more fungal in my case, so the clotrimazole cream seemed to help. As does immediately washing with water after "activity".

Ive been to dermatologists who couldnt seem to help. Always suggest a lack of cleanliness, which is not the case.

Hi Diem, I've got similar issue. Red/purple ring around the bottom of my glans and irritated skin below the gland. Both areas feel very uncomfortably when rubbed. I've had this condition since 2011. I've got circumcised in 2014 hoping it will help. It seemed to help a bit as quite a bit of the irritated skin below my glans has been removed but the remaining skin is still irritated as previously. I am more bothered about the purple ring on my glands though. Ive tried anti-fungal creams Clormatizole and Canesten with no success. I look forward to seeing your OSD/OSB results! Please keep us posted! Thanks

@ paul59925: It looks like your condition was suddenly there? So no harsh chemicals or other stuff which made it like this?

@ Martian1985: You got it in 2011, a pretty long time already. Do you know the cause, did something happen that moment? Or it was suddenly there?

I am trying the oil now since 1 week. In the first 3 days i only used CBD oil, and after that i used the combination of CBD/CBG oil. Unfortunately i don't really see an improvement in redness.

I do notice something different: sometimes i feel a little tingling sensation. That tingling is on the exact location as where i felt it 1 month long after using the skin oil. The skin oil was a very bad idea of course: it made it red like this, it burnt after taking a shower and started tingling for 1 month long. After that month the tingling disappeared luckily. Tingling is related to nerves, so i think some nerves could have been damaged. And now, when i am using the CBD oil, which is generally known that it has many healing properties, also related to nerves, i feel the tingling sensation is back on that location. I don't see any side effects of using the oil: no extra redness, no burning, nothing. So i really don't think the tingling is something bad. In fact, i am thinking that the oil might be repairing the nerves. Because of this and that i don't see any side effects, i will continue to use the oil for a couple of weeks.

I notice that the oil is a bit greasy and is a bit hard to absorb into the glans. I am going to search for similar products like this which absorb better, for a hopefully better result.

I have tried the CBD/CBG oil now for 3 weeks, but unfortunately i don't see any difference in redness. I took another close look to the specific red area of the glans and that gave me confirmation of what i already thought. On the sides of the glans is the structure more smooth. There is no redness. Especially on the lower part of the glans is the skin more cracked (naturally) and there is where the redness is located. On all parts of the glans where the skin is more cracked, there is redness. So the oil could penetrate deeper into these cracks of the glans and created damage there. The next question is now: when oil, with perfume included, penetrates deeper into the glans and creates redness, what is specifically damaged then? What kind of things can we find below the skin of the glans? I have looked a bit at the anatomy of the glans, but it is not really clear to me what could have been damaged inside. Can somebody give me more information about this? What kind of cells are located deeper in the glans? If that is known better, it is also easier to find a solution what kind of vitamins these cells need to heal them.

I think my next step is to try pure Aloe Vera gel. It is anti inflammatory and contains a lot of vitamins. Also Aloe Vera gel is being absorbed really good in the skin and even though the glans is officially not skin, it is good to know that Aloe Vera can penetrates through all skin layer's, much deeper than other products like CBD. And because i know that the problem is located deeper, i also need to find a product which can penetrate really deep. And that's the case with Aloe Vera. Has anyone experience with applying Aloe Vera?

It is already some pretty long time ago that I have posted in this topic. Unfortunately I need to say that I haven't seen any improvement yet. It is already 1,5 years ago that this all happened, so I don't expect improvement anymore in a natural way. If a doctor tells me like: ''this and this happened because of this, and that's why it is red and can't be restored'', then I can close this chapter for myself, I will accept it. But so far nobody can tell me what is going on here. It looks like a million dollar question. I know the cause, I can describe exactly what happened, then there needs to be at least 1 doctor in the world who can inform me about it?!

Recently I noticed that some parts are getting a bit more red, as you can see on the pictures. These parts are damaged the most by the skin oil. Actually I don't know whether it is a bad sign or good sign that it is getting more red. Maybe my body is trying to repair the damaged cells? When you zoom in, you can see a lot of small red dots on my glans. All these dots together forms the redness in my glans. I noticed that in the red areas there are cracks in the glans. Other parts of the glans which still have a healthy colour, are solid. It means that the skin oil in the cracked parts of the glans could penetrate deeper into my glans, where it created redness/damage. So the damage is really deeper, underneath my glans. The question is now: how can this be solved? Is is still possible to solve it, or is it damaged permanently after using a bit of skin oil?

In the last 1,5 years I spent around €200,- trying to cure the redness with several different products. Unfortunately none of these products made it better, but also none of these made it worse. It remains the same, it looks like really nothing is helping against it. I already tried the following products:

    • Coconut oil
    • CBD oil
    • CBG oil
    • Penile health cream
    • Jojoba oil
    • Shea butter
    • Balanitis relief cream
    • Pure aloe vera gel
    • Cicalfate repair cream

Any help would be highly appreciated.

I've had this for at least 2 years without a solution. My case looks very similar to your first images, redness in the same area at the front, but on the sides/back of my penis it's normal.

If I look super close there is tiny little bumps where the redness is too.

I've tried clotrimazole, coconut oil, micronazole, steroid cream, bactroban - nothing has helped so far.

Let me know if you discover anything. Hopefully we can figure this out together! I think I'm seeing a dermatologist soon.

Thanks for your reply dean. Do you know the cause of the redness, like chemicals? Or you have no idea?

Please let me know what the dermatologist says. I am also thinking to go to a private clinic, specialized in penile skin issues. There has to be someone in the world who knows what is going on here.

In the meantime some more redness has developed, more serious redness. Actually it already started 2 months ago as you can see in my previous post with pictures, and it has become worse. My body tries to cure it everytime (see the white 'stuff' on the picture here below to cure the 'wound'), but it always fails to heal it. In fact, the red area is still growing slowly. I am really worried about it and scared that it can be an early stage of penile cancer. It is not painful or something, just red. The area where this redness all started, was the most red area after applying skin oil. Maybe in almost 2 years of chemical irritation, something bad as developed? Tomorrow I am going to make an appointment with a doctor. Anybody knows what it can be?

Actually I don't know why I am still posting here because I don't get any replies anyway, but hereby an update. I went to the doctor and she said it looked normal, she didn't see anything where I should be worried about. I didn't agree, because I can clearly see that this condition is not normal and that the dark red part is increasing, it looks like a skin layer of the glans is gone. And when I showed the doctor a picture of the glans with the white 'layer', she said it is something like dirt. I totally disagree and I told her that. In my opinion it is clear to see that my body is trying to cover and heal the 'wound'. Unfortunately, after washing etc. the white layer is not strong enough and breaks. The ''wound'' is open again and the process repeats itself again and again (trying to cover/heal the wound). Here below some pictures from a couple weeks ago. Right now the condition is slightly better luckily. Any idea what is going on here? Really worried, the red area is getting bigger and the doctor says it is normal and doesn't want to send me to a dermatologist.

I also have something but my redness increases and decreases for last 3 months. Maybe masturbation caused it but no anti fungal treatment worked for me.

    I'm having some simliar issue

Starting a two a half years ago with a balantitis, I'm half circumcised, and the problem is on the skin that kepts "hidden" by the foreskin.

I Tried Aloe, moisturizer, corticoids, and fungus and balantitis creams.

I get better for a while then I have sex or I masturbate, and everything starts again.

The red skin, the lack of elasticity, sometimes looks like is going peel the skin..

    are you circumcised?

Thanks for your reply fede. Do you have any idea what the trigger could was 2,5 years ago? Did you already experience some light redness at that place and during the time it got worse? I am not circumcised but I know that this redness/situation started a couple of months ago due to the constant redness from the skin oil. It was the most affected, damaged area where these new problems have started.

After having sex of masturbation it got worse and it all starts again, true. Did you already visit a doctor?
