Gord diagnosis, but scared !

Hi, I am a mature lady but am happy to admit I am worried ! Suffered dreadful sore throat two months ago. Antibiotics did not help so subsequent gp diagnosed gord. I was prescribed a month of omeprazole and am now in the final week. I no longer have raging sore throat but seem to have enlarged glands in throat and am sooo worried it is something serious. Could the ppi be causing other issues or should I return to gp and ask him again for more reassurance ?? He probably thinks I am a massive hypochondriac. Thanks for reading and look forward to any responses.

Hello Suzy, when did the PPI started working for you? Did it stared from day 1 or you had to wait? I am asking because I started yesterday..all my symptons are gone but I experienced a sense of throat glogged up when I swallow..for hours. Today was scared to take my second PPi.

Hi Ada, I've been on PPI's for a long time, too long! They can take a couple of week to kick in so bear with it.

Yeah, realistically think the PPIs took about 3 weeks to kick in ! I developed other systems which seemed to be consistent with a throat infection so not sure what is going on ??!!! Acid test will be when I finish my course of PPIs I guess ! Hope you feel better soon x

Hi Ada - if you are having trouble swallowing the pill, if its Nexium you can soak it in a tablespoon of apple sauce and take it that. I have done this many times as Nexium is the biggest ppi pill. Each of the little balls its made up of are enteric coated so you still get the time release.
