Got MRI scan on Friday

Hi, I have a 11 cm cyst on my right ovary which has a solid part. I was told I had this cyst at start of January which I then had a CT scan which showed the solid part so my consultant had to speak to the cancer team at a diffrent hosptail.

I have had all bloods for tumor markers and they are all back normal.

My consultant has said it's very unlikely to be cancerous plus all my bloods are normal but they want an MRI on my pelvis and tummy which is on Friday which I'm super nervous about! If this MRI comes back clear I will be having keyhole surgary on the 26th to removed cyst but if anything shows up or they are uncertain still then they will take it back to the cancer team which means I'll have open surgary at some point.

I'm only 23 years old and I'm super scared! I've been told there will be a certain consultant at my MRI - anyone had this??

So so scared! I really need the op on 26th as I suffer from a few diffrent mental health illnesses and all this has made it worse and plus my support worker from the mental health team is suppose to be supporting me day of the op.

I had my pre op on Friday just gone and he came with me (support worker) I'll be staying in hosptail over night and my support worker will take me in on day of op, stay with me until I go to threate and be there when I wake up and he said he will come next day.  But despite his support for the day and even now I'm still so scared! It doesn't help that if my MRI isn't clear means not having an op on 26th but after that week my support worker Is off but should be only 2 weeks and I won't be able to go through the op without him.

The woman who I spoke to is going to speak to surgon to compare diarys for a new date.

I do feel a little better but not had MRI results so still worrying about that. But yesterday the woman asked if he had contacted me about them and I said no so I guess since he hasn't contacted me straight away is a good sign?

Plus at least he hasn't changed my surgary to an emgernacy.

I'm so glad they going to wait until he is back.

I'm so glad your having a better week. Do you know when your op is? X

I would have thought that's all pretty positive 😊👍🏻

If  you're worried it may be worth giving his secretary a call to chase it up? But I would definitely think they'd have contacted you & would be getting you sorted if they needed to x

I'm booked in for the end of April xx

      Hey,

My consultant/surgon called me today and they are still not sure even with having my MRI results so they have had to take it back to the cancer team which should of been last Friday but because we had lots of snow it didn't happen so it will be talked about this Friday and my consultant will call me Friday afternoon to let me know what they have said.

I asked if we looking at cancer and he said it's unlikely and said all my bloods are normal. He said that if my bloods were normal then he would do the operation as emergency next week.

So the cancer team will tell him if he can go ahead with keyhole or not.

Not the outcome I wanted that they had to go back to cancer team x

      Morning x

I was only thinking last night I wonder what's going on with you!

Ok so yes not the outcome you wanted but to be honest I'm not sure why they've taken it back to the cancer team as it doesn't sound likely!?

Your blood test was the same result as mine & my consultant is happy to wait to do my op ( but that's only because of our holiday she would have got me in sooner if not)

From what she said  I would think you'll be fine with that result which is why it's confusing they're using the cancer team, it's easy to say don't worry because I know you will but hopefully they'll put your mind at rest tomorrow x

I do really feel for you as it seems to be dragging out now & obviously you just want it all sorted :-(

Although I'm coming to terms with the surgery now I'm still quite anxious about it, it's only natural, a couple of people have said to let the Consultant know about your fears as they may be able to give you something to calm you.

It's been such a worrying few weeks it's definitely helped having this though as it makes you realise you're not on your own & I never knew so many people had these cysts!

Everything crossed for tomorrow keep me posted, what time's your appt?!

      Take care xx

It's going to cancer team again because my scans don't show enough detail what the solid part is.  And plus he said he wants to go ahead with the right operation as to do keyhole he would have to pop the cyst so he needs to be 100% sure it's not cancer at all.

He said yesterday it's unlikely. I just want it over with.

      So much worry x

      Hey

, just had a phone call from the consultant, and my local  hosptail and The cancer team at a diffrent hosptail  are all struggling to say weather or not it's suspicious ether way. So they can't do keyhole surgery. So they will be taking ovary too. So will be open surgary. Which I'm so scared about.

He is booking me an appointment to see Him in about 3 weeks time to talk about it all and with any questions I have.

He said The cancer team are resured that all my bloods are normal, the rest of my pelvis, tummy and all organs are fine too.

I asked if we looking at a cyst or something More now and he said it's a cyst as it's fluid but it's this certain part they having an issue with.

He said if there was any pre cancerous cells by removing the ovary they would be removing the cells/ cancer from my body by doing that.

My consultant surgon also said that he will not go ahead with the operation with my support worker from the mental health team I'm under is back from leave (I explained to him on wedneday my situation)

And tips or anything on having open surgary? And any questions I need to ask consultant surgon when I see him? Xx

I have a large ovarian mass of 19cms and am booked in for my hysterectomy op at end of month.  Just want it out to be honest and am trying to stay calm but it is so difficult when you feel anxious.  My blood pressure sky rocketed yesterday and I am testing it at home it is coming down, but still very high.

I have now started bleeding heavily with very large clots and wondered if anyone else had had this type of bleeding. To be honest it feels like my regular period, and I was just on 3 weeks ago.  I have pain on my left side whilst my cyst is on the right side and my stomach looks like that of a 6mth pregnant woman.  I am so anaemic and am taking iron tablets.  As I write this the abdominal pain is easing but the bleeding continues.  I  am so worried i’ll end up back in A & E where I was initially admitted 3 weeks ago with suspected constipation! Thx for being a sounding board , these forums with real life experiences are so  supportive.  Regards, Lisa

Hi. I have a 11cm cyst on right side. And i get left sided pain- this may be referred pain. My pain comes and goes for me.

Not sure if this helps or not x

Hi, I had a 10cm and a 2cmnon the same side. As I got closer to my surgery it got very uncomfortable- pain started moving around, up, down, sideways - it was different all the time and it RE escalated by the end of the day! Also, my abdomen was also huge, I looked pregnant by the end of the day.  I also had problems with peeing more frequently and bowel movements were an issue - I think the cysts were putting pressure on that area. As for inter course and exercise my Doctor asked me to stop both because he felt I was high risk for a rupture - those are the #2 ways a rupture happens. I had no bleeding but my periods weee starting to stop (I’m 52) Hope this helps! Good luck.
