I got my ears syringed about a month-and-a-half ago and ever since I've been feeling a swaying or off-balance kind of feeling my ENT prescribed me steroids which made it worse and then Topamax which also made it worse I constantly feel nauseous off balance as well as vomiting in the morning but the nausea is all day as well as the off-balance swaying motion..Please help.

The name for this condition is Mal de Dembaqument Syndrome in short ( Mdds ) there is a site on FB for just this condition I've had it for 7 years  everyday . It's like being on a boat out at sea in rough water. Or being on a Trampoline ,or trying to walk on thick sponge or mattress . Mine began after an Osteopaths visit for sinus drainage 2 days later ,just got up or tried to . Think head movement for my sinuses moved crystals that day ,as no previous balance issues that visit .

Same happened to me Years ago. Never had to have my ears syringed before. Didn’t feel I needed,to but gp said,I did. It really hurt,,Sharp, pain in right ear. Nurse doing it ignored me and brushed it off as if I was being a fusspot. week,,or,so later, one morning I woke up like, you. Holding onto, walls,to,get to another room.  Had home visit from locum, Said 'Virus'. It never got better. When I queried, once with GP many months later after see ENT's etc etc with no joy, he said, "nope',couldn't be that. Looked in my ear, said eardrum was fine and normal.  To this day I don’t see it as a coincidence this happened.

Yes.,but I’ve learned to,live with it. I go monthly for Bowen treatment that has helped a bit.  And my therapist has given Me some exercises to do to help also. Not like the usual ones they give you on NHS!! Which btw never helped me one bit!

Sadly yes. And like, you any medications they gave me only made me feel, worse. I was eventually after years of seeing different consultants at different hospitals ruled out BPPV, Menieres etc etc. The best they could,do was 'Chronic Disequilibrium'!!

How are you now? I was diagnosed with bppv pills no eply i freaked gp stopped.

I just felt off lightheaded and a bit queasy in early am pills stopped it.

4 weeks later went on a cruise weather was rough i was fine well on the way to recovery. Day we docked i had an appt to have my ears syringed the right side had a huge calcified ? Gp was shocked. He did the left ear too. That was the bppv side. Slowly over 2 weeks i got attacks of tinitus and queasiness.

Last Tuesday sat on the grass for a picnic lunch felt off got up no bending but felt sicky. Wednesday morning woke up felt nauseas with every day its worse lasting all day ringing in left ear feel utterly dreadful. Got appt for chiropractor sent off a referal appt for hospital physio and seeing gp on 28th but its dreadful

This happened to me also, nearing 6 weeks now.

During ear irrigation using a pulsating water device and too cold water, i was acutely struck with dizziness and nausea which now has lasted 5 weeks. The specialist finds symptoms of BPPV in the anterior canal, but offers no explanation of how i got that immediately when irrigating the ear.

Any updates from you people? How did your condition progress?
