Grateful for the surgery - go ahead and do it

Hello everyone,

I had a huge fibroid larger than 1500 ml. Went to myomectomy but ended up needing a hysterectomy due to bleeding during surgery. I had a subtotal hysterectomy, cervix and ovaries were kept. I was very anxious about everything: surgery, what I would be like after surgery, anesthesia, death, every f thing. I had read and watched all videos around the internet about how bad it is after a hysterectomy, that sex is never the same again, that your body will look just awfult, etc. But the fibroid was *so* large, I looked 7 months pregnant without a doubt, and I could not walk properly and felt very sick all the time. Menstruation hurt like hell. In the second half of my menstrual cycle I lied in bed all the time and felt really bad.

Just wanted to let everyone know that 3 days after surgery I was walking around the house and already feeling better than before the surgery. One month after surgery I was really eager to drive and to swim. I was so cheerful and had my energy back. Sex is just like before I had any problem, and this  means much better than when I had the huge fibroid inside me. Now it is 4 months after surgery and the only physical problem I have is that I gained weight while I had the fibroid due to not being able to exercise. I feel just fine!!

I am so grateful for the doctor that performed my surgery and for medicine in general. I am just so happy I had the surgery and feel like a fool for having worried so much.

Just wanted to post this to all of you who are going through the trouble I was going thru. I advise you to get a subtotal hysterectomy, too. I am happy I kept my cervix. Some doctors told me they would not let me keep it but I did not choose them.

Medical science is just wonderful, go ahead, fix what went wrong with you and continue to live life!

this is my one true fear, to go in for a myomectomy and come out with a hysterectomy. But it is true, your health is what matters in the end.
