Haemorroidectomy and Anal Skin Tag Removal Recovery

Posted , 38 users are following.

Hi,

I’m now Day 5 post Hemorroidectomy and Anal Skin Tag removal. I’ve read a lot of threads on here from others who went through it and have found some useful and reassuring information. They’re all a few months (or years!) old now and I wondered if there was anyone out there going through it now or more recently that would be willing to share their experience?

I think I’ve been quite lucky in that my issue was mainly a large Skin Tag from post birth haemorroids but I did have a couple of internal haemorroids that were done at the same time.

It would be nice to know that some time soon, I’ll be able to poo without feeling like a freight train is splitting me open!

Thanks,

Lolly x

How's every one doing this week. Sm in week 5 i think and Am about to get depressed. After every BM soreness and burning starts to build up and it takes a good 5 6 hours to settle. This started at week 4 don't know why. And i am having something like mucus ozzing out don't know if it normal or pus. Kinda yellowish some times and some times colorless. And i am mentally and physically tired.

I don't know if it's a fissure or the wound i just don't know anything anymore.

      Hi

I am now nearly 6 weeks post op and I was the same and I know others are/were. I have started to improve in the past week, but do still get pain after a BM, but it goes much quicker. Saying that i haven't been for 2 days so could be speaking too soon!! I have found that movicol really helps to keep everything 'moving' normally, when I haven't taken it, it is much worse. So I have again taken it the past 2 nights - so we shall see!! Regarding your mucus, I think that too is normal, although I don't have that. If it becomes all of the time though it could indicate an infection, so keep an eye on it. This recovery definitely takes it out of you. My consultant said pre op, don't read the internet, it is not as bad as it used to be...omg what a liar!! It has been a lot harder than I expected. Although I do not regret it and think I am finally on the road to recovery. I was squatted down yesterday cleaning the fridge and afterwards got sharp pains upwards and think that was from that as probably still not fully healed.

Hope you start to feel better soon, it does get better, just take painkillers if you need to. xx

On my 7th week now, guess the swelling/lumps/whatever they are, has come down a bit, starting to feel slightly better after BM, but as Del77 said it's pretty hard to tell, shifts from day to day. Still having bleeding during every other BM, not always but today I had. Feels like I am at that point where you just have to wait and see, not much you can do really. 😑 Also having some troubles with my BM for some reason, stool is soft but have to push/strain a little since maybe 1-2 weeks. Well, could be worse...

Still dreading BM yesterday i had 3 BM my day was so so bad. Woke up a little better but still afraid of the coming BM and am back on movicol it helped me greatly last time i used it. Am starting my 1st day in week 6. Guys any of you tried all bran buds? Are they good with almond milk as breakfast.

All bran should work but are maybe somewhat firmer in their consistency as All Bran is made from Wheat. I've been eating Quaker Oat Crisps this whole time, has alot of fibre, made from oats. If you soak them or lets say have some in the sink, after a while they become all mushy, soft and watery. Would imagine they do the same in your bowel. Been eating these my whole life.

It's really a roller-coaster this op. It gives you no breaks none. I reached week 3 see so much improvement then mid week 4 till 5th as if i was back to week 2. Yeah thank god. It could be worse but hopefully we go towards good news.

      Hi all.

An update which may help you all.

I finally spoke to the hospital yesterday about my pain.

The nurse was lovely, apparently it is absolutely normal (unfortunately). The pain is the sphincter (hate that word) muscle spasming after a BM and also the wound opening whilst you are going to the loo. It doesn't get to heal then. She has sent a prescription to my GP for a cream that should help, unfortunately it is not licensed in the UK so he can say no. I have been waiting since yesterday to find out if he will prescribe it. I'm in bed in agony again.

Tip - hot water bottle under your bum provides relief (I've already had a hot bath) as it eases the spasms.

I will update about the cream if I get hold of it!!

      Omg what's the cream??

Just to update you all, my next mission is to 'juice' as apparently you can reset you digestive system and take pressure off it x

Am starting Monday when juicer arrives so will update you all.

Am also using manuka honey and will update on that if it works at all x

Hope you are feeling great and better guys.

Dell i had another surgeon to get another opinion and the second surgeon insisted on not going under for a full up and dilation as per the 1st surgeon requested. And old me to keep taking rectogesic ointment 3 timrs its 2% nitr i think the same as what you doctor ordered you plus to take antibiotics for 7 das to deal with the pus at the wound becuse its still ozing some especially after BMs luckily i dont have headaches because of the oitment. And also to go to the beach and soak in its water becuse its good for the wound. I have to get through this weak to i hope for the best because if all failed think i might need a Sphincterotomy with fissurectom. This recovery took its toll on me.

Talked to my surgeon abut what was happening to me. He is pretty sure i have a little Narrowing and will go for dilation in office with anesthesia on Tuesday. This nightmare of a surgery seems as though it want end. #week6 hope everything goes well from this point forward.

Hi. I'm also week 6 and I'm now wondering if I'm the same. I had a few days of doing well then yesterday, bam! I had to just stay in bed, as couldn't sit the pain was horrendous after BM, worst I've had. Sore today rather than pain but still bad.

I looked with a mirror and sounds daft, but I think it now looks off centre, which is weird.

I feel like I have a really bad fissure but no blood (sometimes a little bit) so don't think it can be that.

I just wish I could have a follow up with the consultant but i didn't even get a follow up phone call, probably due to the virus. I've rang to ask advice but they don't ring back as promised.

This is a long old slog isn't it?

This is just the worse tomorrow i have my weekly visit to the surgeon i hate seeing him. But i have to. I may have a dilation procedure in the OR under anesthesia which scars me. And yeah after the surgery my opening looks of center more to my ding ding 😂 tbh.

This is by far one if the worst experiences of my life it got to me mentally and physically to a point of exhaustion its so much tiring and no one and i mean it no one understands you.

Hi again, what kind of symptoms did you notice with the narrowing? I am starting to believe that I've got some sort of stenosis or narrowing as well as I'm getting somewhat harder to poop. I've read on the symptoms of anal stenosis but basically only have one, except minor bleeding that can be both, but I have this tight feeling at the start of my BM and basically have to strain to get things going and then the usual swelling comes after. Poop is though normal and solid, sometimes I would say even large due to the movicol and fiber. Don't know If my low food intake is the reason but also starting to have up to 2 days between BM's, usually I'm going every day almost and did the first weeks after OP also. Next week is my 8th week post-op, starting to regret the surgery considering I now have more difficult problems than before.

Burning pain pressure feeling of not fully emptying for me burning and pain alot.

Also you stool are small like pellets or toothpaste. For me i think my problem is that i have developed a fissure after surgery becuse i stay in pain and burning after BM for a good 8 9 hours. Monday am going to the surgeon to sort this problem becuse i cant live like this. I have low pain 1 or 2 sometimes 0 having the BM but after an hour omg omg it starts and never stops. Also i so regret doing it on so many levels. The pain the anexity i went and am going through is just sick. But we already did and we have to live with it until it sorts out. My opinion go straight to the doctor and let him decide.

I am 8 wks post op. Hospital have now said the pain is like that of a fissure but it's the wound reopening with every BM. I agree about it being more difficult to go but that may be because your bowel goes into spasm. I have been prescribed a cream that is usually for fissures, it stops spasms to allow the wound to heal. it is unlicensed in UK fir that but is used for other things in tablet form. It hasn't totally cure my problem but wow has it made a difference after a BM..Still hurts to go, but the pain after is so much less!!

The ointment is called Diltiazam Hydrochloride. I definitely recommend it. xxx

Hello- I will be 11 weeks this coming week and I'm still dealing with the swelling of the Anal skin tag on the right side. It does go down throughout the day but it very uncomfortable/painful. Although I had two procedures for fissurectomy and botox. Its very depressing to know that I'm still going through this! I go to see the CRS on the 11th of this month. Which at that time I will be 12 wks .I Will keep everyone updated. How are you doing?

Hi did u have the skin tag removed?

I had botox for fissure and skin tag removal in October and still suffering.

But the weird thing is there's a bit of the skin tag remaining and every time I bm it swells and then reduces throughout the day

      Very uncomfortable and painful.

The surgeon in December said it would just 'die down' but obviously not.

Are u in UK 🇬🇧? No appointments here!!! (well in devon) I'm pulling my hair out

      Hi all.

I am 9 weeks post op now and using the cream I mentioned and it has made such a difference. I became complacent and stopped for a day, well the pain came back with force!! Ask your Dr for it if you are having pain after a BM, mine was literally lasting all day.

Hope you are all ok x

My 9th week now post-op and I am feeling better I have to say, the lumps are still there and probably will be but less sore after BM, still some bleeding and a few seconds of, would not say pain but an aching sensation of some sort during BM, but overall I feel better after. Also have had really good BM last 7-8 days which obviously helps a lot, probably because I've started to exercise again, especially running and some light weight training.
