Haemorroidectomy and Anal Skin Tag Removal Recovery

Posted , 38 users are following.

Hi,

I’m now Day 5 post Hemorroidectomy and Anal Skin Tag removal. I’ve read a lot of threads on here from others who went through it and have found some useful and reassuring information. They’re all a few months (or years!) old now and I wondered if there was anyone out there going through it now or more recently that would be willing to share their experience?

I think I’ve been quite lucky in that my issue was mainly a large Skin Tag from post birth haemorroids but I did have a couple of internal haemorroids that were done at the same time.

It would be nice to know that some time soon, I’ll be able to poo without feeling like a freight train is splitting me open!

Thanks,

Lolly x

    hello,

I am 8 weeks post surgery and still feeling like I am being split open when going to the bathroom. My BM is soft but still painful and bleeding. I was told by my Doctor that it was normal and to just use polysporin after every BM. I am glad that you Doctor gave u a timeline of 12 weeks. It gives me hope that this will be over soon.

      Hello

I wanted to check on you are you still experiencing the same feeling after BM. Mine are also soft and formed but after the BM by 10 min or so the swelling and burning just destroys whatever is left ij yiu day. I stay sore and burning for a decent couple of hours after that. And if BM came before sleeping then no sleeping this night. Am week 5. How long did this feeling stayed with you and what did you iu do to help ease this feeling

Am thinking of going back to movicol again to see if that would help.

    Hi all,

I am 28 y/o male and this is 6th weeks post-op. I had 2 hemorrhoids removed, one grade 3 open hemorrhoidectomy and another grade 2 by PPE (stap le). These past 6 weeks has been a roller coaster of emotions and my only emotional support is from this form and particularly from this thread.

Here goes, I had my procedures on 21 February and only woke from my general anesthesia about 3 hours later. Immediately after I woke up, felt like my bladder going to explode. At the same time I felt very stinging pain from my backside and I cried for about an hour. Only stop when they injected me with some painkiller.

Then, only manage to ps 2 hours after I woke up. I had to strain really hard to make sure ps came out. Second time I cried because suddenly my anus felt like someone stabbing it with a steak knife. Again, got injected with painkiller and went to sleep. Woke up 3 hours after that in pain and its already about 9 pm. I asked again for painkiller.

Fast forward, now is my 6th weeks of my healing. Everything seems to be normal with slight pain with every BM. Guess what, suddenly today I had to pass a very hard stool and my body straining itself and BOOM same pain that I felt in my first week came back and kick me in the ass.

Now, it is already two hours from my last BM and I have been chain-smoking non-stop to keep my head buzz so I don’t think too much about the pain.

Is this normal to some of you people?

Am starting week 4 from what am seeing and reading you need to be very careful with constipation espaciallu the 1st 3 months. 6 weeks is nothing all the doctor when it comes to recovery say alot of bull tbh. You need minimum of 2 to 4 months to be back 100 percent alot of previous people who did it tell. You that. I feel for you am keeping my food intak low w a sachet of movicol every 3 4 days and my stool is watery and relatively small compared to before and am still feeling sore and pain when BW and after it as if someone have a lighter under your but. Take it easy bro. Today was a bad day for me 2 BW sore very much as some one said this operation is 2 steps forward 1 step backward wish youball the best and belive me you should stop smoking at least for a couple of months. smoking slow your healing alot. Wish you and me and all the others that god helpmus in this diffuclt emotional Rollercoaster we are in.

Totally agree with what "karirinkate" said. I'm on my 6th week tomorrow. This week Wed-Fri I felt pretty good, almost started to believe that just maybe the worst is over until I had the worst BM yesterday(Sat) that I've probably had in 1-2 weeks. Had a bit harder stool(normal in normal circumstances) than usual despite 2 doses of Movicol a day and diet is the same. Oh boy, 2-3 hours after it felt like I travelled back in time like 2-3 weeks although the swelling settled pretty quick, but still feel sore today. Hopefully BM tomorrow is better...This sh#t is by far the worst experience I've had so far in my life, geez, never ends.

Wish you all the best bro it's a nightmare but this also shall pass. I can totally relate to what you are experiencing today also i had 2 Bowel Movements one only water the other loose and watery and all my day i spent it in the bath to ease it. It made me supper sore. Am writing while in bathtub. It's hard but light at the end of the tunnel. The corona thing helps us staying home all day is good for us. This site really helps in day 2 day. It is really good knowing you here bro. Keep it up.

      Really feel for you.

      I'm in a similar boat

Had botox for a fissure back in October and skin tag removal.

One step forward and five back.

So much pain from BM and after wards for a few hours.

I have days were it seems slightly better then BAM.

I am 85% sure I am not healing but I have no choice but to believe the other 15% as no appointments are coming my way with corona.

Just really struggling. Love to everyone

Hello Everyone, I had 2 external hemmis and one internal removed back in December 2019 along with a fissurectomy and botox. I too kept bleeding and was in pain after two months. My CRS recommended we do an exam under GA to caturize any bleeding and to remove any skin tags as well. It sounded like a straight forward procedure so i agreed to have get it done. Come to find out after the procedure she also indicated she had to do another fissurectomy and botox as she noticed the fissure was not healed after two months. Fast forward 7 weeks later this week and i am still in pain with each BM and after. I also get very swollen like a small jelly bean on the right side which feels like a new external hemmorroid. I am so unhappy with the results. Timeframe at least 3 months to heal if not longer. I am so physically and mentally exhausted i hope and pray all this will be over with. I regret having the second surgery done as i feel it created more trauma or new problems since it was on the same site and it was only two months since the first one. 7 weeks at this time after the first surgery i was not in this much pain. it was bearable. I totally feel the same as you one step forward and five backward. Praying for a miracle.

Tester was just as you experienced am feeling so down and mentally exhausted. It started as a great day no pain no swelling could walk normally then a BM happened larger than before and oh my god stayed 6 hours in pain and swelling after that. No warm baths no ice bath no ointments did a thing as if i was in week 1 couldn't sleep without taking 2 tablets of alvedon to help. 😔 Guys what do you use for swelling?

. I also get very swollen like a small jelly bean on the right side which feels like a new external hemmorroid

      This is what I get!!!!!!!

      Honestly it's the same!

Does yours then get better with time throughout the day? Xx

I had my op for botox and skin tag removal on October (no piles) when I came back for the second check up appointment, I explained what u said and he said to me it's just the fissure area all inflammed and will go down in time. It hasn't and it's my major source of pain. The weird thing is it's 79% painless until I bm.

I went back in Jan and he agreed I needed another round of botox then February 18th came and he cancelled it as thought I could do without it.

Fast foward 6weeks still in pain and no improvement and no appointment.

I'm so low and I don't know where to turn. I keep thinking about the lateral operation but I remember him saying he wouldn't do it. I also remember the pain after the botox and despite my inability to lead a normal life, my pain isn't as bad as when I had the op.

I don't thnk I'll ever heal. I just don't know how much more I can take.

Sad that we all have this in common x

Poppy I really feel for you, as I know appointments for us are all on hold at the moment.

I had/have a chronic fissure since January 2019. It ruined a lot of my life. Like you I was OK until BM, then pain would build afterwards. Unable to work or function many times.

      I had botox January 2020.

The pain after the op was horrendous, I think the surgery aggravated it. I went to a and e and had morphine, but nothing eased the pain. I only had slight relief around week 3 or 4.

The pain returned and I was again unable to work.

So I had LIS surgery on 14th March along with surprise removal of a prolapsing thrombosed internal hemorrhoid which I had also started to suffer from.

Following the op I have not had any pain like before. I would call it soreness, not pain. I used paracetamol and ibuprofen for 4 or 5 days after surgery. No fissure pain. I have had a lot of swelling on the outside. Yes I have the jellybean thing you mentioned! This has only got slightly easier after 3 weeks.

I highly recommend the LIS operation.

Also I recommend fibre diet, 3 to 4 pints of water a day, lactulose, dulcoease and dulcosoft, eating healthy, no pastry red meat junk food etc. Prunes, cherries apricots etc etc

Use a stool for bms and lean forwards - you can Google posture and methods.

I think if I'd known all the tips in the first place I wouldn't have got so bad..... But then if you haven't suffered would you do all the tips? I'll never know. But will continue the regime from now on.

I really hope you can find some relief ASAP xxx

. I had a second opinion with a CRS yesterday and pointed out the swollen and inflammed jellybean area he stated its a large skin tag that should get smaller in time but can be snipped off if it doesnt as in office procedure no surgery as its more likely going to stay that way. Its because of the history of the anal fissure and located exactacly where my fissurectomy is at. He also said i am 60% out of 100% meaning i still have more healing to do but was impressed because he did see much improvement from the month before. He will see in the three month mark next month how much longer if im not fully healed by then. Same recommendations Fiber. Konsyl or Metamucil in powder. Keeping stools soft and no straining. Keep taking IB 800 for pain as needed. He also gave me Calmoseptine (Menthol and Zinc) topical ointment which helps promote healing. Fingers crossed as I am so frustrated and anxious to put all of this behind me.

Sorry to ask, are you in UK? I cannot get an appointment!!!!!

I was meant to have mine end of march to Find out next steps.

Thank you for sharing what happened, very interesting and also about the jelly bean as so very similar for me.

So just to confirm, you've have botox twice? (the second time with your hemorrhoid operation) would you say you feel 60% better that you did back at January?

So positive for you that you so seem to be making progress...

One last question, did they say what would happen if you didn't have more healing in three months?

I am so confused about my options as my surgeon where I live says no to a lis surgery... He said 'we don't do that anymore'

      Poppy x sending love

No, Im in the US. The swollen jellybean does go down throughout the day but the pain lingers on. Which makes it difficult to sit, walk fast or just be normal. I had hemorrhoid surgery Dec 2019 along with a fissurectomy and botox procedure. Which was performed In the midline at the 9 o clock and 3 o clock. Feb 2020 I underwent a second procedure. Without torturing me CRS had to do an exam under. She made it clear to me If I find something Im going to take care of it. Upon the GA exam CRS noted that she had to excise multiple skin tags and perform another fissurectomy and botox in the same area as the fissure was not healing. Glad to see and hear that I am improving. I did not ask what would happen if I did not have more healing in three months but I am nervous about it. Did you have a fissurectomy along with the Botox?

Poppy I'm in UK and has LIS in March. It works. Very little pain after. Just sore and uncomfortable.

I had botox January which was unbearable pain afterwards and didn't work.

I had fissure 1 year and suffered greatly.

I realise that appointments are on hold at the moment, but please try and get referred to a different surgeon who can do the LIS for you.

I assume you are already doing fissure friendly diet, drinking water, laxatives and posture on loo?

I hope you can find help ASAP xx

Had 6 anal skin tags removed 3 days ago. Dr. down played this procedure. Numbed area removed the tags stitched them sent me home with no pain med. was told I could return to work next day. BS!!! i know its been only 3 days but my butt looks and feels 10x worse. Why?

    • Edited

Hi Jenny omg that sounds harsh. I've not had any skin tags removed, although I have probably around 6 large ones.

It was same with the botox, the Dr said I needed 1 day off. It was 6 weeks.

      I hope you are improving.

Yeah when appointments return, I will have to get Lis arranged.

Doctor said it's the case of just 'managing' it at the moment and left me crying on the phone, I was really upset.

I just have to wait and see I guess.

So frustrating. Cannot deal. And my back is so so so so bad as a side effect to All the trauma.

Oh poppy I hope it comes soon for you. I know how painful it is. Keep trying for that appointment, and if your surgeon doesn't offer the LIS surgery then ask your GP to refer you to a different one

      Xx

So sorry for you going through this xx
