Hair loss with Methotraxate

Hi all

Hope everyone is doing good. Just wondering if anyone has experienced hair loss with methotraxate? I have been on 25mg per week for the last 4 years recently reduced to 15mg a week along with planquiel and enbrel injection once per week. Is there anything i can do to help or should i ask to change from methotraxate to a different drug. Im 31 and my hair has gone so thin.

Thanks everyone 😃

My doctor did say it is known to cause hair loss. The folic acid helps some. I tried biotin pills and biotin shampoo which is supposed to help but I didn't notice any difference.

Now I am not on any med. currently for RA and my hair continues to be quite thin and seems to be getting worse. I start to wonder if it is part of the disease itself. I also have crohns and the medicine I take for that also causes hair loss so maybe it's just that now

Hi Clare, my hair didn't fall out but my pain and fatigue increased for 2 days after taking mtx each week. I am only on Humira now and feel much better. Good luck.
