half a month!!! I.have tears.

I woke up this morning and realized I have gone 15 days without a drink. That's half a month. I haven't been able to accomplish This ever since I was a teenager except when pregnant with my girls. I'm unbelievably overwhelmed with gratitude. The thing that keeps me strong is remembering how sick I was that first week I stumbled upon this website. I was so sick and weak and I never want to be powerless to my own body again,. I have been up working out for about 45 minutes now. I use a fitbit to track my exercise and steps and sleep and my night time sleep patterns although are far from perfect are at least 70 percent better than when I was drinking, . I feel so thankful and am filled with such gratitude I just had to share it. Thank you all for your advice and your encouragement . We all have strength inside us or we wouldn't be here on this website being honest and sharing our problems, hope everyone has a wonderful day

Lori

Hi lorillin, can I ask you about Klonopin.  I have terrible insomnia for years and have been given this med.  I notice you are 15 days clear of alcohol and you have been on Klonopin for a year.  Did you drink and take it also.  I read on the instructions that not even one drink is allowed.  So my nightly nightcap of a small glass I have but am too scared to take a Klono.  So I sleep 2 hours every night Monday to Sunday - walking zombie basically.  A bottle of wine would put paid to that which is what I have done for years - but I don't want to go back to that.

Also you say probably be on them for ever, my doc said one month and she is not too happy to give me any more due to addiction.  I don't want to not ever sleep again as that is just as bad health wise as alcohol.

Let me have your thoughts hun.

      Appreciated.

      Hi Gwen....

Yes.unfortunately I used to take them nightly after drinking I'm sure some nights I don't even remember taking them. Nothing I'm proud of but I did. Also my doctor never mentioned becoming addicted to them . I don't feel I am I just feel without them my brain is way to active. I have always had this problem. I take 2 milligrams a night sometimes 2 and a half. I do sleep way better now without the alcohol my sleeping is far less disturbed and way more restful, I'm also going to bed earlier and of course waking up earlier, there's not much else to do late at night when your not drinking a box of.wine and having a party with yourself being the only guest sad

Today is day 17 for me.

Anything else your wondering please ask, I'll do my best to answer

Thanks for that - had another yuk night of a couple of hours and today feel god dam awful - so tired it is untrue, burning eyes and heavy head and groggy.  We had a new kitchen delivered for my hubs to fit and I have spent all day filling a skip and unwrapping carcases etc etc.  I have not told hubs I feel like s.....t - just tried to get on with it.  I truly would love nothing better than a bottle of wine tonight and go to bed and sleeeeep.  But then that means I am back to square one and will do it again tomorrow and Thursday and Friday ........you get the picture.

I am getting desperate - I wonder if I could ease myself in to the Klono by braking one in half or even a quarter - I am a real wimp with anything to make you sleep or calm (my Diaz pack remains untouched).

Maybe I will try a quarter and see what happens with my lil ole tidgy nightcap.

      Thanks for helping me out.

Thank you, when I do look back I see an ugly shameful past. One I want very much to overcome and walk with my head held high. Sobriety is a gift and it's finally sinking in, I'm taking this gift and holding it tight!
