Well done. I am now 5 weeks post op. Still get tired. Can walk around the house without crutches but still stiff. My leg is now 1.5cms longer which feels weird. Trying to do the excercise that Physio gave me, have to remind myself to do them as you get so engrossed in normal daily activities.

anyhow, great news, keep us up to speed on your progress

They say it's normal, or can be up to 2 cms.  It can get less after swelling on inside goes down, so they tell me. It was the operated leg that is now a bit longer. I mentioned swimming to Physio last week, he said wait till 6 weeks!

Hi, I am 4 weeks after op, walking without crutches in and around the house and outside with trekking poles. I do 15 on treadmill, elliptical and bike each day and handle soreness afterwards with ice packs. I would like to do more but don't dare yet. X ray in a month. Still very tired after exersice. My operated leg was pre op already 2 cm longer (broke femur 26 yrs ago on the other leg) and does feel post op even longer. I just take out inlay of operated leg and put as much aspossible in other shoe. I quess I correct 1.5 cm. It doesn't bother me. I am 48, a runner and hope to run again.Good luck to you all.

Well done.  Not so frightening after all.  Onwards and upwards from now on.  Do as you are told, take care and you will be right as rain in no time at all.

Hi joan , I had my op 17 days ago in my brilliant NHS local hospital . Was amazed by the good treatment when there is so much bad press about NHS . Stayed in 6 nights cause wound was a bit weepy . Walking on 2 crutches as I was told to do so for 6 weeks . Been for a walk along street a few times . Very little pain just had a bit of muscle discomfort . My probs are tiredness and sleeping on my back . I would practice that if I were you . By the way I have just turned 60 . Good luck

Wahay, it's a great feeling when it's over isn't it. Just be patient now and do what the physio tells you. I'm now 3 weeks post op and touch wood, all going well. Keep posting, we're all here xxx

Really good to hear from you and that all went well. 🙌 Enjoy your cosseting time with your mum but once you get home try to rest as much as you can as you will feel pretty tired to begin with.

    Take care x

Hiya I'm 40 and after the opp wasn't fun but no where near as bad as I thought it would be😁

was a little grumpy that everyone else on the ward had a catheter but I had to struggle onto a bed pan and then to the loo.😉 I was next door to a luvly lady of 50 we had some friendly rivalry going on wich helped us both to get moving quicker. It hurts but it's a healing hurt not that horrid constant pain I had before xx💜💛💚 xx

Must say the whole experience was much better than I expected . 2  weeks after my op and only take pain relief at night more for just I case than anything .just come back from a walk down the street . The tiredness is the worst thing going to get some protien drinks as recommended by others. Had staples out on Monday that was fine just stung a little . Good luck
