Hi good for you. How are you feeling? I am amanda and I am so sooooooo scared as I suffer from acute anxiety. Have done for many years, since I was a child. I am due to have a total hip replacement in 3 weeks time, but at the moment, I am full of anxiety, together with a horrid sore throat and feel pants. I have to organise my Hubby as well as he is disabled. So I have a double amount of things to do. Luckily I am going into the Nuffield although on the NHS . But if i went else where I would crack up I am scared also about having injections into my tummy. I cant & refuse to do these myself. NO thanks . Not even hubby will cope as he is severely sighted. Anyway regards Amandah

Urgh, I thought injecting myself was so cool but I'm so over them now. 9 more to go, can't wait to finish with them.

Hi Moi, They help prevent blood clots. It's a tiny needle, dead easy to do. Just gets boring after a while.

Hello Mary, a lady after my own feelings. I am dreading this whole op from srat to finish !! Its all because I am suffering from deep rooted anxiety. Yes some people get anxious, but I suffer from sever anxiety. I am a full time carer for my disabled husband as well, so have to make sure that I have done things for him and got help in for him.Half of me says why me? As this is all the ...... anxiety in me. So it will take me maybe longer to recover. I called the hospital and matron said would I be having the injections. Also I have no one who would be able to do the injections as I would really start booing.I want some called dabigastrin in a capsule . Just hope they will comply with me.Sorry to moan . Op is on march 2nd.Have a sore throat today anxiety I think Regards Amandah

Ha, I thought it was horrific! Β Nurses came daily to my home after leaving the hospital, not for my THR, and taught me how to do it but I just did not have the guts! Β Then one nurse asked me what my greatest fear was and I told her that I just cannot watch when any needle goes in and I never have watched. Β So she told me to pick the spot, sterilize the spot then position the needle just above the spot and turn away and push in the needle. Β IT WORKED!

That's a good tip Dawn, I tried it this morning. I'd started to tense up when doing it, not looking actually helped me stay relaxed which made it much easier.

      Hi Amanda

I too am scared of injection. If you are too scared and unable tell your social worker as she might arrange for district nurse to come and give you the injection.

      Best of luck
