Has anyone had an outbreak in your mouth?

After biopcy, My GYN confirmed I had Lichen Sclerosus. He has me on the creams. When I went for my follow up a couple of weeks ago I told him I thought I had the same thing breaking out in my mouth. He said you can not get it in the mouth. The symtoms seemed the same except the liesons in my mouth hurt MUCH more! I found an article from the US NATIONAL LIBRARY OF MEDICINE, NATIONAL INSTITUT OF HEALTH that says it is rare, but you can have an outbreak in the mouth.

Has anyone else had a mouth problem and have been told the same as I was??
I'm in severe pain in my mouth to the point I can't put anything in it It even hurts to swallow! I am trying to find a Dr. that can treat this.. My primary doctor is on vacation, so I may go to ER to get some to relief for the pain.
The report I found says cases of the mouth are very rare. If any of you are having red, painful leisons in your mouth you may want to look in the direction of Lichen Sclerosus.

Sorry to here this I just wondered it could be lichen planus in your mouth, I suffer with this and you really need to watch your diet if it is LP, no spices or acidic foods. Your dentist would know, hope this helps. How old are you I find after the menopause we suffer with it although there are different types of LP.

Karen, I am 65. I also have chronic shingles and thyroid disorder. Since all these point to autoimmune problem you'd think they could find the root of the problem. This mouth problem is so painful..more then the bottom.

Hi Shirley
Did your dentist find the LP, also I do think it's caused by a virus hpv, I was diagnosed years ago about 20 now by my dentist who sent me for a biopsy although at the time had no symptoms only the last couple of years it's started to bother me. Around the time I was diagnosed with LP I had an abnormal smear test which I then had colposcopy, so looking back at this now i think there connected, and Iv spoken to many ladies who have had both problems. Have you ever had abnormal smears Shirley.

Yes, it is called Lichen Planus. Couldn't figure what was happening in the mouth but my dentist sent me to a dental specialist. He took a biopsy and confirmed this. I was given a script for Fluocinonide gel USP, 0.05%. Direction were , apply to affected area SPARINGLY 2 X @ day. This cleared it up. It says on the box "for external use only," so I was told to rub a tiny amount on an area of concern swish about and after a short time spit it out. Hope this information helps you, it truly is painful.

My dentst thought it should be looked at a specialist. The doctor recommended is an Medical Doctor DMD. He speciality is oral surgery, TMJ, Maxillofacial Surgery. This doctor/dentist did the biopsy. The Lichen Planus is gone and I have not had any problems for well over a year. Hope this helps. Remember this is a dental problem even though it is related to LP.
