Has Anyone had Success in Healing without a Procedure?

Hi, I'd like to hear your stories if possible. I've had internal hemorrhoids for a couple months. Contemplating speaking to my doc again about different procedures, but still waiting it out. I'm just wondering, have any of you waited it out (with more fiber intake, water, better toilet habits) and had success? If so, about how long did it take to feel normal or almost normal again? Some docs say 2 months is early days.. should I keep being patient? What's the cutting point that makes folks say "OK I need to do something more" ? Thanks!

I would say that unless they are causing a lot of pain you should wait a bit longer. None of the treatments, in my experience, are as pain free as they say. I am recovering from Rafaelo and still experiencing pain after a month.

I finally gave in and had three internal hems banded in the surgeons office and I only experienced some discomfort for a couple of days which an ice pack helped with that was two years ago and I've had no more problem

Thanks for your replies. I struggle every day with what to do.

Paisley, could you tell me what were your symptoms before getting them banded and how long did they last before you finally gave in?

I had tons of painful pressure and feeling like I had to poop all the time I had one thrombosed hems and two other so the surgeon said let's get rid of all of them which I'm glad I did unfortunately though it turned out that my symptoms were a result of levator ani syndrome and not necessarily just the hemmorhoids but I'm glad I got rid of them anyways...I had dealt with it constantly for about 3 months before seeking help

😫 Im on 3 months, give or take. Started with constipation. So in march I passed a Godzilla like bm, needless to say that started the whole thing. Tore right up. ie...i wasn't drinking nearly enough water or consuming enough fiber. My diet was horrible. But i did it to myself. Also i was straining, which was making matter's worse. So mid march , another bout in the bathroom made matters much worse, before i finally started drinking water and taking fiber supplements. My first mistake was not drinking enough water, which made me strain more. Drink lots of water! So mid April the "flare up" started subsiding. But my diet was still so-so. i also was super anxiety ridden. Health anxiety, so i was like forcing myself to not eat,and sleep was a fleeting thought. Health anxiety is horrible. I knew i had internal hemorrhoids, because after probing around i could see them. i also believe because of the spawn of Godzilla i cause myself to get the Triple crown...Internal hemorrhoid, hyprotrophied anal papilliea(which is a normal part of your anatomy) except when hard stool causes trama, also common with a fissure (which was right behind it. Fortunately mine healed,or at least so i think it did. I have no bleeding,or "pain", moreso a uncomfortable feeling after going to the bathroom, sometimes. Ive finally made an appointment to see a colorectal dr,much to my dismay. I know its the best thing to be sure, but ill tell ya its tough. Embarrassed, scared, anxiety , but continuing on like this is madness. And Dr.Google is like the devil, stay away. Ive used everything supplements, creams, suppository ect. Im a firm believer its all about the diet, and straining. I hope this helps some what. And know your not alone. Its scary regardless.

Thanks for all the very helpful replies. Jnf I'm sorry you're still suffering as well. You sound similar to me in a lot of ways. Let me know how your doc appt goes!

Well after 3 months of suffering and Anxiety from Dr Google, its over. Today was my colorectal apt. It was literally like 15 minutes. I explained what was going on,he gloved up,stuck a anoscope in , replied you caused yourself all this stress and anxiety over 2 hemorrhoids? 😂. What would you like done? I said band those suckers. With the quickness,it was over. He said everything else looks good...now go enjoy your summer dammit 🙏😂😂😂.

I'm glad it worked out for you Jnf. May I ask how you're feeling now? What did the banding feel like also?

      Thanks!

Ok so , it took less than 5 minutes once he checked over everything in there. I feel like the weight of the world was lifted,😂 at least for now! I feel great, a small amount of throbbing/uncomfortable weird feeling. But ill gladly take that over the anxiety of thinking something else was wrong! So all in all , very glad, wish id have gone 2 months ago!

And it seems the internal banding also knocks out the external (if your lucky enough to have both

That's great, I feel like I want to go to your doctor. I visited a Gastroenterologist last month and he just gave me instructions and said come back in 3 months. Did your hemorrhoids leak? Keep me updated on your progress ! I may need to try again soon if these nasty things don't heal.

No leaking, soaked right away in the tub,the iced it up. Took some Tylenol, and will probably repeat. Said to take it easy for the next few, drink plenty of water and fiber!

This is a helpful thread, as I consider popping in to see a doc once and for all.

The thing I fear most is actually the finger and/or anoscope. I'm concerned that it'll make things worse than they already are and also be painful.

Any advice on that front? I'd say that's the number one thing keeping me from doing something. I don't have chronic pain or anything. Just always tender and uncomfortable every time I go to toilet despite no constipation. Easy, normal...but always seems to irritate the external hem.

Same here Monkey, i was scared sh*tless to go to the Dr,i had myself convinced i had something much worse. 3 months! i suffered, did all the creams, suppository, pills, sitz baths ect. The problem was i didn't get aggressive until it was to late. I ended up having 2 Internal Grade 2 roids, with 2 external ones that only bulged when i strained. It was the worst experience. I went to the regular Dr,got all blood tests, urine test,CBC, lipids ect...I also finally (after my wife had enough of the complaining, and misery)went to the colorectal specialist. The banding took all but 5 minutes. Yes it was embarrassing, especially when the Dr had to call in his female assistant AND another girl that was interning!🤣 But at that point i didn't GAF. The anoscope part wasn't that bad,a bit uncomfortable,he checked everything out, identified the 2 and boom. Done. Pressure, and slight discomfort afterwards. Took acetaminophen, iced my ass and hot baths. I also have been drinking tons of water and fiber supplement (metamucil x2 a day) I had this done on Wednesday afternoon. Today was better than the last definitely. Walking, went to the grocery store,bank...and didn't take anything until this afternoon (which i wasn't in pain) just still a bit swollen. And you will be for 3-4 days. Im hoping by this weekend ill be back to somewhat normal. As for everything eles, all blood work was good. Feel free to ask any questions. Hope this helps

This is really helpful to hear about your experience, thank you. I just moved and need to find a new doctor, but I suppose it's as good a time as ever to finally get them checked out properly and by a colorectal specialist too. It's less that I'm in pain and more that the discomfort/tenderness just bothers me mentally every day. Can't live like that!

100% the same, i wasn't in "pain" or bleeding, just uncomfortable and definitely the anxiety and mentally part were the biggest.
