Has anyone managed to 'reverse' their fatty liver?

As my question asks, has anyone managed to do this and if so, how have you done it?  I realise it is a lifestyle change and i am doing that at the moment (ie going to weightwatchers, going to the gym) but apart from having the ferritin levels checked, how can you tell if the liver is 'repairing' from fatty liver?

Hello Carina, a very interesting question you pose! It is only last week the the consultant I am seeing uttered the immortal words "in my opinion your fatty liver problem is reversible" so I await an appointment with a NHS dietician, also am having a fibroscan done in mid January, my first problem is needing to lose approx 2 stone in weight, I suggested having a leg amputated, but he just gave a puzzled look and suggested I keep taking the medication. Best wishes cheesygrin

How did you manage to get a fibroscan test?  this has not been offered to me and i've heard that this is a non invasive test to see if your liver is damaged or not due to fatty liver or anything else.  I live in the UK but i will mention this to my GP next week.

Carina I had never even heard of a fibroscan myself, it was the consultant who mentioned it to me on a previous visit, I am under the excellent care of NHS Scotland.

Hi Carina. I also have fatty liver. I didn't know the liver could repair it's self in that way, just stop it from getting worse. Do you have hepc? Unfortunately I am not doing everything I could as far as lifestyle changes like you are.

Hello all, just thought I would let you know that I have received a letter today from my consultant.  The letter is very reassuring and has answered my questions as to how he has come to the conclusion of my discharge.  He suggests I continue to have annual liver function blood tests but basically my cysts are not of concern (and it states in the letter that they had a team of specialists going over my results as originally it was thought I had a hydatid cyst which thank goodness it isn't).  In general I am happy with the way I have been monitored over this as I have had a very worrying year from the initial detection of a liver cyst in April to my discharge last month.  I am determined to continue with my lifestyle changes of losing weight, excersing etc to help my fatty liver and control my Type 2 diabetes.   I feel I can move on now as like I said I've had a bad year this year worrying about my health, hoping 2016 will be better for me concerning health.  I hope you all have your health concerns sorted and wish you all a very healthy New Year.

I managed to reverse my fatty liver, my advice to everyone here is to know why your liver accumulates fat, the liver usually accumulates fat when you drink alcohol, have type type II diabetes or pre diabetes, high cholosterol or Hepatitis. and also have a liver function test. I did all these and my results were negative. I reversed my fatty liver with Livolin Forte supplement which i take every day for 3 months, cutting anything made of sugar including syrups, cutting fatty foods and junk foods, eating vegetables and fruits, excercising, taking green tea every night, drinking lime water first thing in the morning, only occationally i prefered eating fish than meat. NB when i say cutting sugar i didnt mean not taking sugar at all if you use to have four tea spoon you should cut to two or even one and half same thing to meat you should just watch what you eat. This is what i did and just last week my test showed my liver is clear and my liver function test is also normal. Its simple to reverse fatty liver as long as you watch you eat and there is nothing to worry or panic about it is jsut a normal disease that will go away, good luck!

Thanks for your advice of reversing fatty liver.  I went a little 'off the wagon' at Xmas but am now back on track and back at WW.  My consultant's letter also stated that all i need to do is have regular liver function blood tests, probably every 6 months via my GP.  My liver function tests have been fine so hopefully they will stay that way.  I want to concentrate this year on healthy eating, losing weight and excercising.  I can't really do more than that and just hope all will remain stable.  Well done to your motivation :-)

Forgot to mention, i used to drink a cup of green tea every day at work but stopped when i read an article about a young woman who bought some green tea on the internet and it caused her liver damage but i assume she didn't know what she was buying online and what was in it.  May i ask what sort of green tea you drink?  i'm thinking of buying it again but this time go for japanese organic green tea as that has highly recommended.  The one i used to buy was Clipper which i know is fine too.  Thanks

      Hi guys,

      Hope you are well,

I have a fatty liver,I guess I like my drink,

My question to Mahmud is about the medicine he took.

Do you know if that medicine really helped?

I just starting taking something similar called ,,essentiale forte'' which suppose to be very good for your liver and it looks similar medicine like the one you use,but I have some side effects - abdominal pain...

Have you heard about this medicine essentiale forte?

hi peter, i took livolin forte for 3 months and i also had stomach pain but wasnt sure if it was the med i asked the doctor they said stomach pain might be a side effect of the med but fatty liver also causes stomach ache so i went on and finished the med.
