Has anyone taken 5 weeks or longer to feel better with Mirtazapine?

I have now been on Mirtazapine almost 5 weeks and I would like to know if anyone has taken longer than this for the 30 mg to work. It seems to be every other day that I feel fantastic and think this is it. Then the next day I get that awful feeling back again. Has anyone else had this experience with this drug. I am lucky in the fact that I do not have any of the side effects that I have read on the forum.

Ah I hope I can drink alcohol when I am more stable. I never go stupid with it but I do enjoy a drink.

Socialising more would help with my depression but the only time I see my friends it revolves around alcohol! I went to a friends house on Saturday (major struggle) for a few hours and just drank coke, I felt really paranoid awkward etc when people were offering me drinks and i was refusing.

I go on holiday to Majorca next month with friends which will be a struggle. I havent left my mams house hardly for 3 months : ( and I own my on home and I've hardly been there!

Praying for a miracle with these drugs at the moment i think

My situation is similar Chris. Part of my depression is because I lost a lot of my friends since having my son and anytime I did see them...it was only about alcohol so battling this illness has been hard. I'm 11weeks in on mirtazapine as a whole but just under 2 weeks in on my 45mg dose. I still don't feel great but have heard it can 3-4weeks after increase as well. Socialising more would help me...but its hard when you're a mummy! Lol

Thanks Chris. Hopefully you'll be one of the ones that feels improvement sooner. Im not sure if the last bit if depression and anxiety is something I have to help myself now. Being a woman and a sufferer van be worse at times as my hormones seem to throw me off recovery every month!!

Hi Jacqueline. I don't think I have ever met a Scot who didn't drink! LOL. I have been keeping busy today and have fe3lt better. I think that's the problem not being at home. I do voluntary work at our hospital twice a week and I am great then. I also go to classes at the gym the other days and shopping etc so I am missing all that. I am hoping I follow you in feeling good. I think I am about a week behind you.

Hi Sunset. I am definitely not going to drink when I get home. Funny enough I do feel better when I have a glass of wine but it could be the reason I don't feel that good the next day. I really envy people like yourself who can just stop. While I am here it's difficult not to drink as my husband, daughter and her partner all have a drink with dinner. Anyway thanks for posting and we will keep in touch.
