Has arthritis changed the appearance of your knees?

This question is obviously for the people suffering from knee arthritis. If yes, after how long did the appearance change after the symptoms started?

I’m afraid that is the same as asking “how long is a piece of string”.😏 Some would see differences rather quickly, red, swollen, etc. others won’t show differences for months/years.
I have had polyarthritis for several years, I have no idea when I noticed the changes, they don’t happen overnight.
All the best from Constance. 💐💐

Do you get any sort of treatment?😞 Can you still live a fairly normal life?

Maria, I don’t know how old you are so I can’t say what a “normal life” for you would be. Each of us deals with the pain as best we can - some are able to take OTC drugs, like paracetamol, aspirin, etc etc and are helped a lot, others have to take stronger drugs - only you can tell whether they help or not (listen to your body). If the OA is advanced and there is bone on bone only surgery will help.
Let us know how advanced your arthritis is, what type it is (there are dozens of different types), how long you have had it, etc etc.

Ah yes - I thought you must be young. One thing you mustn’t do is WORRY. Have you actualy seen a doctor yet? Arthritis can usually be seen (on ex-rays).
Excercise, but until you know what your pain actually is, don’t over-do it, 15 to 20 minutes of gentle exercise every day and STOP if it hurts.
All the best. 💐💐 Keep in touch if you need to “talk”.

Maria I was just diagnosed with RA about 3 months ago, I'm a very active person and it was so painful! I eat right, excerise, yoga, walking, squats and just keep moving. My knees have changed a bit. I work with my hands and I take 5-10mgs. of Predisone a day, I felt like this was the safest of the RA meds!
