Has the forum got M.E again ??

I found your article quite helpful.

I just recently had a diagnosis of CFS and did not believe or understand what it was about. It is good to know in your article that may there be some options and support to improve this condition. It is also helpful to know there are books or organisations that may be good for me during this period. I have found that doing a little bit of excercise make me tired but helps me to avoid depression or feeling part of the community.

Hi to all who read, post and lurk here.

Okay, please don’t be thinking ‘oh no! The girl has finally gone and lost the plot’, while reading this post.

For those of you that don’t know me, or haven’t read my posts (mainly on the citalopram threads and depression threads) then please let me tell you a little about myself. My apologies in advance to all, again those who do know me, will know I am very good at rambling, I will try to keep this as short as possible!

I discovered Patient UK last February after a visit to my doctor for anxiety. I’ll not go into the ins and outs of that, it can all be read on the citalopram forum. I have since, recovered from my anxiety attacks but not until I had experienced a few terrible months, just like many, many other people – it isn’t a nice experience. Yes, I also leapt into the realms of depression at that time.

I became a moderator for Patient UK Experience a few months after my first post on the Citalopram forum. I was approached by one of the administrators and felt honoured, to say the least. It was, and is my way for repaying/thanking Patient UK for their fantastic site, time and effort that these people (behind the scenes) have created for me and thousands of other people.

In June I suffered a fractured (left) elbow – the day before I was due to go back to work after recovering from my anxiety! Good timing huh?

A couple of months ago I started to experience excruciating pain in my right shoulder. It never went away and is still clinging to me like a lost frightened child.

Not long after that pain started, I started to experience severe pain in all my joints, I didn’t wake one morning with all the pain, it came on gradually, until eventually I couldn’t stand it any longer and I went running to my GP begging for help!

Blood tests results have shown some things up but what I don’t really know and asking my GP doesn’t really make things any clearer tut.

Anyway, this is where I’m at now, I have recently completed a course of antibiotics, which, to my surprise, eased all the pain in my joints and left me with swollen free hands and ankles. Sadly, the shoulder pain is as bad as ever, and now the joint pain and swelling is returning.

So, there you go, that’s me! And this is where this post comes in.

One evening, completely fed up (I could use a stronger word) with the shooting pains, aching, swelling and general feeling of malaise, I decided to search the net for some sort of self help. Come on, you know how it is! We all get to a point where we are just so desperate for answers and remedies.

Well anyway, that is when I came across EFT (tapping), I read up on it and gave it a go, using the video that is below. I was alone in my bedroom at the time but half way through it my daughter came in and straight away asked if I was doing EFT. How the hell did she know? Why am I always the last to find something out!

Did it work? Well, I’ll be totally and completely honest with you and say, I don’t know! My shoulder the morning after felt less painful! Not quite sure if this how it is meant to work but there you have it. Then this Sunday after typing out some lengthy policies, the shoulder pain became unbearable again and so I tried the tapping before reaching for the painkillers. It did seem to ease it again????

So why am I posting about it here?

Okay, well firstly, remember my gratitude to Patient UK for all their time and effort at making this place such a fantastic place, and how much it helped me through my anxiety and depression. I vowed back when they asked me to become a moderator that I would give 200% of my time (wherever possible). This site helped me through so much, I want to give that help back.

Secondly, I’m curious (very curious) as to whether something as simple as tapping certain areas of our body while saying certain words can really help us. I’m not into reading random testimonials on various websites that I have

    Hello Melbi :D

What an interesting post.......have yet to click on the video, websites etc but just wanted to say that I was under a [b:a4c6b2a58f]very[/b:a4c6b2a58f] well-respected psychologist for some years before I moved here, and she used EFT a lot.

She also is now one of the top people in the field of EMDR but that's another story!

So, I will definitely give it a go (I'm [b:a4c6b2a58f]also[/b:a4c6b2a58f] at the desperate stage!) and will feed back at a later time

    take care

    Morning All :D

The snow has all gone here, but we keep getting sleet/snow/rain showers

At least the ME people should be able to get here

I've got the most [b:6f40626eee]awful [/b:6f40626eee]headache today (I've resorted to a migraine pill but it hasn't worked yet) so probably shouldn't be on the computer as that makes it worse :?

Oh Alicia, the thought of you giving MD a foot massage is so lovely

Hello - impromptu forum meeting required please :D :coffee: :cake: :cupcake: :tea:

Honestly, I just walked all the way to the little hotel where the ME group was supposed to be meeting. :run: (I didn't look at all like that but there isn't a slow-walking emoticon)

    ....

...Just as the heavens opened and poured tons of hail, sleet and then snow all over me, I saw a sign on the door saying the hotel was closed and there was nobody around at all :wah:

So I came home again, my umbrella broke with the force of the hail and snow and I got soaked

They could at least have rung me if it was going to be cancelled

Oh well, it made me feel ill and depressed last time so I think I'm better off staying in the warm and talking to my forum-friends :ok:
