Having internal body vibrations/buzzing.

Posted , 170 users are following.

I've been experiencing these body vibrations/buzzing for about 2 months now. It started out mostly at night waking me up between 1am to 4am..if I try to sleep through it it gets worse and even into my head. I've had several really bad mornings where its been so bad I get out of bed in a panic wondering what is wrong...of course this has lead to very little sleep the last couple months. Lately it goes on all day too. At night I can "calm" it with a glass of wine but only to wake up vibrating again. I've been taking anxiety meds and they have no effect. Tried muscle relaxers and they have no effect. I've changed my diet and taking vitamins with no effect. I'm 50 years old and pre pausel as I've had on full period I'm 7 months. Im so tired of dealing with this. Anyone else having this same thing? If so what have they done about it?.I have a doctors app. in two days.

I can barely remember what it feels like not to have internal vibrations, it is draining. I have had it fairly constantly now for a year. I had a sub hysterectomy 4 years ago so it is very difficult for me to know how many months I am in to the menopause. I am 50. If I did not read and learn of other women's similar experience I think I would be in a darker place. Just to understand that others are also dealing with this issue gives me some strength to battle on. Anxiety kicks in on its own accord, my blood pressure has increased and don't mention the weight gain. Nearly a stone and a half in 3 years. I have found the perimenopause and menopause to be the most difficult time in my life because it is so drawn out and I have experienced every single symptom. Not a pleasant time.

My sister describes menopause as "a very dark period in her life". I remember her husband taking her from doctor to doctor because she thought she was going crazy. She did get better, she still has the occasional bout of depression and vaginal dryness.

My symptoms started late. I was four years into it before I had symptoms. Today it's depression and crying jags. I'm just praying and praying, that all we ladies will feel like ourselves again.

Being deficient in D3 can also cause vibrations. Have you been checked for it? do you rarely sunbathe?

I experienced your symptoms and more for 13 months. I am on the patch, Combipatch, Thyroid meds and changed my diet. No gluten dairy caffeine or alcohol. My symptoms have let up about 3 weeks ago. My hormones may be settling. I never though the buzzing, ringing, anxiety, panic would go away. try Yoga and mindfulness meditation. Things really wont be perfect until your body decides to settle. Doctors do not really understand. Its not in our heads. It is real. Good Luck!

Hello, So glad I found this site. I have had the same internal vibrating from head to toe since april 2016. Wake up every morning with it and constant all day. My ears also humm all the time. My dr put me on xanax 3 times a day thinking it was major anxiety . Don't think so after reading all this. I'm 56 and going out of my mind. I was wondering about the Bach Flower someone mentioned on here. I take 1grain of nature thyroid but pretty sure that's not it. Had a hysterectomy back in 2010. I just want to sleep!! Thinking about seeing a new Naturalpath Dr to see if she could help.

Thank you so much. I don't feel alone anymore. Dr has 0 clue what I'm even describing..

    Thank You

I had the same thing and avoided benzos. I am on 28 mgs of effexor and count out the pellets. Things will not stop fully until the hormones settle. I practive yoga, mindfulness avoid gluten dairy, alcohol and caffeine. I totally understand anxiety surges panic depression. I wanted to die at one point. I sleep and rest a lot say no to people and not feel guilty. De-stress because nothing really makes it perfect but you can manage until your hormones settle. It was 13 months of torture. I am 51 now and on the combipatch as well the oral hrt gave me horrible depression and anxiety.

well I weaning off paxil back in sept 2017 and that went very well. I have talked to a couple nurses and since i have only been taking 1 mg a night of xanax that might body could be going through withdrawals since the life span is very short. I have had the worst week. nausea , insomnia and just very edgy. U have a dr appt on Monday and might have to get the xanax back in my body for a couple weeks and then do a slow taper.  And will also talk to her about some hormone supplements .

Hello, I'm in the same boat. Someone said on here that its anxiety and go see your GP. My mother and sister passed away 5 years ago within 3 months apart. I know what anxiety is and this is not anxiety.  Did they not read all the post on this subject. I was taking 1mg xanax 3 times day and did nothing for this vibrating.

No. still have it 24/7. it's  like having a electric toothbrush on all the time.

      thank you. have any suggestions?

Darn, I was hoping you had some suggestions. How long have you had it? I don't have it awake. I feel like mine is just as I'm about to doze off into sleep I get this weird sensation, like q vibrating throughout my body. It usually keeps me awake for hours as I'm terrified of the feeling. Mine happened once every 3 months then more often and now in order not to feel it I need to take Ativan. I've tried sleeping pills but I Ativan is the only thing that works and I hate taking pills. If I skip Ativan it's no sleep. So 15 days a month of my choosing I don't sleep.

started april 9 2016. will never forget the date.  And is still the same. I have it from the time i wake and at night in bed. I take 1 xanax just to try to get some sleep. would like to try some natural remedies but not sure what ones. tried b vitamins and magnesium but no luck.

Did you ever find out about any home remedies for the vibrating?
    • Posted

I haven't found any remedies. I've tried Ambien and that doesn't allow me to sleep through it. The only thing that does is Ativan. Do you feel the vibration through your whole body or just certain parts?

yes. And thousand dollars later. nothing. As I sit here on my recliner and write this, my vibrations are all over the place. feels like someone turned on an electis toothbrush.

The most common thing I hear is that it's caused by anxiety or the medicine to treat it. Can you block out the vibrations or is it always there?

Constant . when i finally get some sleep. It wakes me up. The xanax i take is temp. maybe I mg  a couple nights a week. Don't like to be dependent on them. My doc wanted me to take 1 mg 3 times a day but i'm convinced this is something else. Was seeing her for months a whlile back.

I had the same thing. it will only stop when your hormones settle. Try and be calm. Yoga, mindfulness, meditation and keep busy. I though i was losing my mind. I am on the Patch and effexor. Even Doctors at Cleveland Clinic had never heard of such strange symptoms. But they are real not in our head and you will be ok. I changed my diet (no alcohol, caffeine, gluten or dairy) and take thyroid meds. But the Buzzing and electric pulses were weird and unwanted no pain though. Good Luck!  P.S. I stay away from benzos they are very addictive try SSRI or SSNRI's if you need them and start with the lowest dose. They are not addictive.
