Scared I'm dying
I'm always dizzy feeling off balanced my head feels heavy, I been on Meds for two weeks (sertaline 50mg) I sometimes get this anxious feeling in the pit of my stomach. I do manage to workout everyday which helps me out a lot and I meditate after. I'm going to see a neurologist next week because I think I have a problem with my brain.

I have the same stuff that happens to me I got a catscan to make sure I wasn't crazy and I wasn't. Lol it's anxiety , it plays tricks on you makes you feel like you have cancer or other stupid stuff. I was about 13 years old playing football with some friends and one friend was bleeding a little bit on his arm he got it on me when I tackled him and I thought I had HIV I mean I was going nuts for the longest time I was counting down my days till I thought I was dying lol. It will make you feel some crazy ways. I highly doubt anything is wrong with your brain it's more then likely anxiety

It sounds like anxiety to me, too. All of us here are in this forum because we have experienced the same type thing. The most common fears that anxiety causes are I'm having a heart attack, and I've got a brain tumor, (or problem.) You need to have anxiety diagnosed or ruled out . The best person to do that is an anxiety therapist or counselor. Do ask the neurologist if they deal with anxiety. If not, ask for a referral. If you don't get one, then find one yourself.
A lot of medical people do not have a clue just how bad anxiety is. They really can't as they have never experienced it. I was a counselor for over 40 years and had no idea what it really was until it smacked me down.
So, your next step is to rule in or out on anxiety. If it is, there are immediate things you can do to help yourelf, If it isn't, then you will find out just what it is, and act on the info.

Is it normal with anxiety when you lay down there's a lump in your throat and hard to breathe? This is so annoying I'm laying in bed right now trying to sleep but I can't because I can't catch my breath.

I don't get a lump in the throat, but gasping for breath is an anxiety symptom. When I lie down, I have to do some controlled breathing to get to normal breath, especially when on my back. Also what helps is to sleep partially sitting up, like with 3 or 4 pillows, or in a recliner, until your body gets used to breathing easily whlie lying down.

Thank you for the advice. The past couple days I've been getting anxiety the worst I've ever had it. Got released from my job yesterday because it got so bad. I am a veteran and went to the VA they prescribed me medication. I'm fearful of the medication although I know it will help. I haven't taken it yet, but I can't feel like this much longer. I'm just trying to relax and I can't. No one should have to go through this thanks for your advice once again. It is very hard to deal with it destroyed my baseball career and now my job.

With anxiety, the first thing you need is an anti anxiety medication. Look up the meds prescribed on google, and see what it is used for. I am not big on drugs at all, however, with anxiety, it is the best first step. I don't know much about particular drugs, there are so many. Look yours up and tell me what it is and it's uses. Let's start there.
When it hit me, I have never been so terrified in my life. Fortunately, when I went to the clinic as an urgent care patient, the doctor spotted the problem and prescribed the right med first time. Many people have to try a few before the right one takes the top off the anxiety and you can start thinking clearly, and do the other things that help anxiety. Look forward to hearing from you.

They gave me buspirone and hydroxizine to start I was in the emergency room Wednesday night the doctor tried to give me a lorazepam, I still have it and didn't take it. I haven't took anything yet, what I do know it that lorazepam is for anxiety attacks and is a narcotic. So it is a pretty serious drug the buspirone and hydroxizine are non narcotics I'm going to man up and take the buspirone as prescribed starting tomorrow. It's stupid but I fear that if I take the pill I will die. It's so dumb of me to think that but that's my anxiety. The buspirone are only 5mg and supposedly take a couple weeks to work but I'm willing to give it a shot. I've been trying a lot of herbal teas and stuff but it's not strong enough

Using busPIRone together with hydrOXYzine may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, confusion, and difficulty concentrating. Some people, especially the elderly, may also experience impairment in thinking, judgment, and motor coordination. You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with these medications. Also avoid activities requiring mental alertness such as driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medications affect you. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
This was the answer that I got. The doctor told me to take the buspirone daily and only the hydroxizine when I'm having a panic attack.

Okay, I am certainly no drug expert, but from what you said, I think I would do the same thing you decided, to take the B..., and the Hydroxyzine as needed and leave the lorazapam alone. It is fine for occasional use as needed, but you already have the Hydroxyzine for that.
Here's the thing, emergency rooms are great when we are in right now trouble, but treatment of anxiety is not their expertise in prescribing the right med that will work best for us in the long run. I would strongly suggest that as soon as possible you find an anxiety therapist or counselor. You really want to confirm anxiety, and get meds from an anxiety pro. If you are not sure about whether the doctor works a lot with anxiety, ask. Many medical people don't have a clue about what it is really like. Some think we are over exaggerating, and unfortunately, even laugh. So, find your pro.
I think I would go ahead with the med you decided to take, it can't hurt, and the doctor you find might even agree with it. If not, they will prescribe another. Many people try a few before hitting the right one. I was lucky to hit it first time. I won't suggest it because it is also for high blood pressure which I have. Are you okay for the week-end now?

Yeah I want to stay away from the narcotics. I did see a therapist yesterday and that's who put me on the buspirone. Hopefully it works. This is the first time I'm ever going to take medication since a kid. I've had enough of this I'm a marine and I'm going to attack the son of a bitch now lol (anxiety). You are a really nice person for taking the time out of your day to write back you helped me calm down as well. Keep in touch if you have facebook you can add me my name on there is "Rodey Manning". I won't bother you anymore tonight, have a good holiday as well!

I'm glad you have a therapist and that's the one who prescribed. Stay with this site, as you will learn a lot from other sufferers of anxiety and may even be able to encourage some people. I'm off for the night. Contact me later and we will talk about other things you can be doing for yourself that will help tremendously. Well done, marine. I'm proud of you for hanging in there. Goodnight

I'm glad you have a buddy, and are moving forward. As you will learn, many people here had to try more than one med. Most of them said getting on the right one was worth waiting for.
I lucked out first time out, but blood pressure med took five tries. Very few people find the perfect one for them on the first try. I talked to two people just today, that med failed first shot. Both of them came off....one of them for two weeks and one for three months. Both said they finally went to doc for another med and are very glad they did. One hit it his second try, the other two more tries, but both reporting great success and regret they didn't do it sooner.
You have no idea how often we all tell people to go back and try again...every day. Think on it, Cody I messaged you on another site.
