hearing loss

Any thoughts.   My hearing is usually very sensitive - even the ringing of the phone makes me jump out of my skin. However I seem to be unable to hear lower frequency sounds and have trouble hearing the television or conversations where there is background noise.  Anybody else have these problems.  My ears are not blocked and seem to be clear of wax.  Had heard that it could be related to nerve damage from constant jaw clenching/teeth grinding ?  Anyone had any experience of this?

    Hi maggers

I went for a hearing test about 3 weeks ago and i found it hard to hear faint sounds and i find it hard to hear the tv too. My ears are not blocked nor do they have wax so i have been told to see my GP so they can refur my too the hospital for more tests, you should book a free ear test at boots to see what it shows okay.

Hi Anbuma  - weird isn't it. I too can't now get my finger in my right ear. When I get some time off will try and get it sorted.

fibro - the 'gift' that keeps on giving eh.

Ear problems seem to be a theme here.  For the last couple of weeks I've had a really sore patch at the top outer edge of one ear - the outer rim of cartilage/muscle.  It's like a 'blind boil' - no rash or break in the skin but so painful to the touch and I cant now sleep on that side as it hurts too much.  I asked in the pharmacy and the pharmacist took a look and said there didnt appear to be any infection etc and to take painkillers (hello - I'm rattling already with pain meds).  Guess if it doesn't clear up soon it'll mean another two week wait for a doctor's appointment.

i dont think any of this is actually fibromyalgia,i was diagnosed in 2005 and no real problems until 2012 when things kicked off,.enlargement of nose, lips and tongue.Pain swelling and protrusion of ribs.abdominal problems assumed to be IBS tho no symptoms and later proven not to be as diagnosed with hiatus hernia, diverticulitis dysphagia being main problems but no specific treatment or remedy.since november swollen mouth ,swollen face, enlargement of skull.cheek and jaw bones.

drs never aceepted weight loss or increase in abdomen-pain and swelling now spread to pelvic area.still assume IBS,dont accept it is not diet related.

now ears swollen.have hadc recurring nasal inflammation for 4 years and nurse says come back if it returns and refer to ENT,so far this hasnt happened.

there is no empathy from gp about my concerns of how i look with bruising on face, enlarged features and facial swelling.i only really go out to walk my dog as conscious of how i look.have had swollen glands recurring but gp hasnt taken that seriously.

they do nothing to reassure me there is nothing serious going on because of negativity assumptions made and general lack of support.
