heart attack symptoms for 2 weeks!

Hi, I'm a young female thats been having heart attack symptoms for around 2 weeks. When I first went to the doctor he thought it was a pinched nerve and has sent me to a physio therapist. However after 6-7 treatments it's not getting better. I feel like I have a nut stuck in my sternum more or less constantly. Some time the area around the left side me chest feels very uncomfortable. Like a tight feeling. I have moments where I feel very sweaty. Just from Sitting. Yesterday I felt out of breath and lightheaded just from brushing my hair ( although my hair is super long and thick and pretty hard work). I have been suffering from back pain which I first assumed was from work.. but I have been of work for a few days and still Have pain. Two days ago I suffered my first ever panick attack.( although I can't really say I felt panicked). sometimes I feel tingling in my left shoulder, arm and fingers. Last night I felt sick to my stomach but didn't through up. I smoke alot for about 10 years and haven't really been involved in much physical activity for the past 6-7 months. My doctorsaid my heart and blood pressure are normal. I'm due for a CT scan tomorrow. Do you think I should be worried? I just have a really bad feeling that something is not Right!! Any comments appreciated.

    Samantha!

Really now! I don't understand you. Are you serious? You are asking us what to do? Isn't it obvious?

STOP SMOKING !!! START EXERCISING WHEN YOU CAN.

You are young and have been smoking for 10 years? Throw away the cigarettes and get yourself a NONSMOKING boyfriend. That is what I did. I swapped cigarettes for sex. The only reason I did not get pregnant because I am a male.

    So, you be careful, hear?

I'm not asking what to do, I'm asking if I should be worried.Since going to doctor two weeks ago. I have cut down smoking.

Stop smoking. Period. No more smoking. Realise that worrying is unhealthy.

So do not worry. But you could get a second opinion from another doctor. So do it.You should get advised by specialists not from a general practitioner.

That is important. That is your homework. Get it done.  And do it without getting nervous about it. Just do it.

^^ Bobfr636 does have a valid point. Sometime worrying (anxiety) can make the symptoms feel worse when maybe they aren't. Exercise and try to really cut down on smoking. It will get better if you give it time and help yourself by doing what I have just said. Good luck =)

    Most welcome Sam.

Your symptoms are slightly diierent form when I had a 3 way by pass.

Bit surprised that you are not having a angiogram. That would be the test I thought you would have.

The doctor said because I'm young (22) it's highly unlikely that I'm suffering from heart problems. but the CT scan is just to make sure. I've read that maybe it's due to anxiety and that they can share the same symptoms. But I've never been that kind of anxious. I very rarely get Stressed and I consider myself pretty in control of my thoughts and feelings. So I just don't know what it could be. I had also not long started the contraceptive pill before I started getting these symptoms. And because i smoke. I thought maybe that had a part to play. But doc said that it should be fine and I shouldn't worry about not taking them. I just don't bloody know.

    Hi Sam

Sorry to shorten your name. OK remember if you are NOT happy go to GP ask for an angioscan. Mention that the C T scan did NOT re ashore you and that your anxiety was getting worse. They have to do something these days.

    Please keep me posted.

CT scans can take a week or so to be looked at. Angiograms are comfirmed within 25/30 minutes.

    ALL the very best

      That's ok. I prefer Sam.

If the symptoms persist or worsen ill be sure to ask for one.. just the doctor seems so confident it's nothing serious. (Although I completely disagree when the pain comes along)

I'll let you know what the outcome is biggrin

    Samantha,

Instead of smoking and contraceptive pills you should have an IUD installed by a gynecologist. And start exersizing and your symptoms will slowly disappear.
