Heavy bleeding and absolute agony!

Hi ladies,

Since a very young age of 15 I'm now (20)I've had horrendous periods resulting in me having one continuously for around 2/3 years with blood clots and loads of pain. Doctors have always fobbed me off saying it will calm down or its ibs pain. I've tried all contraceptive options to try and help and the mirena coil is like my only option but that has failed and I'm still in the same position, having heavy constant periods and excruciating pain! It's affecting every aspect of my life, I was just wondering if anyone is around the same age and has been through anything similar. In the time that this has been going on I've only seen a gynaecologist once I'm due to see one again on the 22nd March and I only see a hysterectomy as my only option for this night mare to stop.

    Hi Carly

I am so sorry you are going through this at such a young age x I also had bad periods and pain from a young age but I'm now old ha 44 x I can't understand how they are fobbing you off saying it's IBS??? This has nothing to do with your horrendous periods xx I myself had to nag to get help but you are so young and a hysterectomy is final if you want children, when you go in the 22nd make sure you tell them everything and tell them you can't go on like this any longer!! Have you had any scans etc? I had a hysterectomy last July that was me asking for it but I've had my children, please let me know what they say wen you go xxxx

    Take care hon 😘 Nicola

Hi Nicola, Thankyou. I don't know either!! Me and my fiancé aren't bothered if we have children or not so I'll see what my options are when I see my gynaecologist. I'll let you know 😊Xx

Has endometriosis ever been mentioned. If lap not done by specialist it can be missed!! Have you tried cutting out all wheat and soya as I've heard this can help too. It seems so drastic having a hysterectomy at your age. I felt young having mine at 39!! Good luck

It was mentioned as from 15-19 I had over 20 ultrasounds and scans but nothing was found.

My whole pelvis was fused and nothing showed on a scan. I was having an op for something else by a surgeon who happened to be endo specialist who diagnosed it!!

Hi Sarah, I've basically tried and gone through everything you have. I think I'm just in a horrible situation due to my age most surgeons won't perform a hysterectomy on someone my age! 😏 I get married in August so I'm feeling very very anxious. Xxx

They weren't going to let me have a hysterectomy but I went in on last geneacology appointment and I was very stern and said enough is enough its ruining my life I dont go out im constantly having to come out of work to change clothes beacuse of how heavy it is I dont have the life of a 24 year old I spend over Β£50 a month on underwear cos all of it gets ruined and they said well why dont we try and I interrupted and said no whatever your going to surgest the annswer is no I want it out I want my life back I want my sex life back aand I want to live me life without being in constant fear of bleeding im a very bubbly person and this thing is ruining me get it out of me .

And finaly he agreed that enough is enough and as I say I havee my pre op assessment in a month . If you want the hysterectomy and I know they tell you well whaat about having kids (I dont havee any) your very young you could change your mind

My reply was simple if I change my mind on wanting kids I can adopt just because people want kids doesn't mean they personally have to give birth to them .

If you want the hysterectomy you have tp be like this with them its the only way to get through to them turn on the water works and be as dramatic as possible its sounds weird but trust me its the only way I know exactly what your going through and the day I get my hysterectomy will be the start of me having my life back its horrrible I hate where I am at the moment and my family annd boyfriend have seen me become a angry crying mess because of it its vile .

I know alot of people are saying get a second opinion but you know how you feel about it you know how much it effects you

They may offer you something called ablation have you heard of it before ?

I have a lady I used to work with had it last year, do you know if it works?

Yes basically the novasure ablation works by a rod being inserted into the uterus at the end of that rod is a umbrella like thing which once inserted into the womb its opens up and it (to cut a long story short) electrocues the walls of the uterus to stop them from bleeding this is always given as a option before a hysterectomy sort of o last hope thing

But this does leave 99% of women infertile but if you do get accidentally pregnant which can happen it will most likely end in a miscarriage or will be ectopic .

And I turned it down as they told me theres possibility it wont work for me as my problem seems to be hormonal and nothing looks abnormal on my scans for the womb wall xxx

Thanks Sarah. Seems like a wasted procedure to me 😏 Xxx

Thats why I turned it down just wanted you to know what they will ask you to think about before the hysterectomy the more you know the more chance you have of getting it gone for good smile
