Heel Pain while sleeping on back

Just came back from physio and asked about the burning pain I feel on my heel and also how my ankle and lower calf feel like it has a l00 weight on it, while I sleep on my back.

She stated that is was not the surgery it is my back...she suggested that while I still have to sleep on my back I put a rolled towel under my lower back to alleviate some of the stress...she said I would have to make a few attempts to get the right dimention of the roll, ie. maybe a thin towell rolled 3 x or 4, or whatever gave me the most relief.

Will be interested in what some of your advice has been by physio.

Am starting my exercise to strenghen my operated leg so I can some down the stairs one at a time instead of the "old two step"!!!!

I'm just so lucky that I do seem to have unlimited physio through our general health care, whereas so many are just given a book to read!

    Hi Patricia

I was told {at my first THR} to put a small pillow under my heels to stop "bed sores" LOLĀ  It helped the pain

I can bend and put socks on etc...never used a grabber thing...but that is what the Anterior does, easier recovery....My neighbor who had a posterior a few months before me at 82, has a hard time putting on socks and shoes.....

I will NEVER take my riser off my toilet...when I go out and use those low toilets, oh my goodness.....it's takes a lot of strength and work to get up off toilet.

I agree about the toilet ...it is my best new friend as my toilets are very old and low!!!!! Not exactly house and home design but just love it!

My friend found a way to put on her socks/shoes with more ease....she has a LOW couch in her livingroom and she finds the lower the better to get to her feet.

I can see how that would be easier.. But on the other hand how will the leg muscle get strong unless I used it?

By the way didn't get the sleep homeopathic med

Wondering if towel worked for your foot pain. My heels wake me up at least 5 nights a week in a horrible burning pain. I have to sleep on back because of cervical myopethly and 4 herniated discs in lumbar. Getting neck fusion shortly. Its horrible and need it to stop. I have enough pain. Please let me know about towel rolling. Thank you.

I sleep with a back roll in the small of my back and 2 pillows from my knees down to my heals so that they dangle off the end. That way they're not resting on the bed. Also I often have a pillow under the bed clothes to raise them up so they're not resting on my toes. Also I have a mattress topper which makes it softer.

I'm a mountain of pillows and hubby has moved to the spare room. But I can sleep.
