Heels

Hi,

I know that this may seem like a silly question but have any of the female mebers on this site been able to wear heeled shoes after knee replacement. When I say heels I mean fairly low block heels and at what stage could you wear them. I am not an avid wearer of heels but it is nice to wear them occasionally for certain social occasions.

I am going to a wedding next week and I know that I have to wear flat shoes as I will only be six weeks post op and I know that I am lucky to have made such good progress so that I can even attend the wedding.

I am just thinking of the future and whether I need to throw all of my shoes with heels out.

Any feedback would be welcome

I am wearing either flats or boots with lowish heel but got lots of heeled shoes/boots cannot walk in yet so sad about that! I used to wear high heels due to being small but persistent knee probs made me reluctantly part with most although I keopt one fabulous pair & matching bag to remind me of the good old "strutting days" ha ha

Have you tried wearing wedges; the fact that the whole of your foot is supported sometimes can make all the difference.  I refuse to throw my heels away. Every now and then I get them out and put them on, 5 mins is the most I can bear, but boy it's worth it  Practice walking round on tippy toes (don't forget, your calves will have gotten used to not wearing them)

You are so welcome.  I know how you feel about not beig able to wear your heels, but its amazing what you find in the deepest parts of our wardrobes. Please take it easy though. For a while it is going to be painfrul after a while as all your muscles and`ligaments have been healing in a different positon.  Good luck,  I am slightly envious, make sure you ejoy wearing them and not get too upset if you can only wear then for short periods of.  Think of another form exercise and dont forget the jelly insoles that are on the market, think "party feet" do them or any good chemist. Softens the effect of inpact. Keep us posted. And dont throw away those heels away xx Keep us postedxx
