I went to my regular doctor and gynecologist and they both said I don't have any type of prolapse. When I strain this is what I see. looks like two prolpases to me. Who else can I go and see?image

I read this so often about examinations lying down. The wrinkled tissue in your photo was what I had before anterior repair, so it looks like prolapse to me but also a rectocele as bulge seems to be coming from the back. I am going to surgeon this afternoon for the second time since surgery last May as I think my op has failed. Last time he said everything was ok just a bit of movement when I coughed. I told him it was much more evident when standing up but he said the way they use the speculum they can tell whats going on lying down ????? Obviously this is not the case, why are they so stubborn, surely gravity plays a big part with prolapse. I am absolutely a nervous wreck about this afternoon in case he says the same again, it makes me feel like they think its all in my head. They don't seem to care that this affects every day of your life. I am taking in a photo too as my said she could not see what was in the photo when she examined me. So if that's not proof about lying down exams I don't know what is.

Further to previous post, had appointment with surgeon (urogynacologist) this afternoon and he said I have a grade 1 Cystocele which is basically what he would expect after the surgeries I had. He more or less said that it never feels the same after surgery as it did before the Cystocele happened, you have to expect some changes. Would have been helpful to know that before. So it's on with the exercises and oestrogen cream for me.

Hope you get some answers soon Chrissy, and the second opinion gives you an answer one way or the other.

      hi Anne

so does that mean you have to just accept yiu have a bladder prolapse?

I'd be devastated if I'd have one op and then another prolapse occured.xx

      Hi Welshgirl,

I dont think its a case that the prolapse has recurred. I had a grade 3 and he has managed to reduce it to a grade 1. He said further surgery would probably not make it any better.

      hi Anne

I've had many examinations with my proff Urogynacologist, mainly due to being over paranoid as my first one failed after a few weeks.

a very experienced consultant does not need to have yiu standing to know what's going on.

obviously gravity shows it's TRUE colours on standing but any bulge will show its self with a strain or cough standing or laying..

I've got my consultant to check me standing on 2 occasions just so he sees what I see but it doesn't change there diagnosis.

I now never loom at my vagina anymore as it nearly drive me insane with worry, all I could think off was the way I looked..

after my repeat repair and tvh as my front wall brought down my uterus the second time or most probably it wzs weakened anyway I now feel better mentally although my back wall is a grade 1 but needs no surgery(yet) but I'll definitely get it done if it causes my lifetoo much to take.

we are in control and know what's going on dont we. I now will travel the 4 hrs to Wales to see him if I feel I'm concerned.

      chin up hunxx

Hi Nicky, having had a rectocele and cystocele at the end of last November, I would definitely demand to see a Urogynaecologist. I endorse everyones' comments. This forum is so useful 😃

mine was only noticed after a proctagram following so many problems emptying my bowels and having fissures time and time again. then I had an mdt with a colorectal consultant, a gynaecologist and a bladder specialist. they all examined me individually and gave me options. and recommended a rectovele repair. I hope you get sorted soon like the guys have mentioned. YOU know your body don't take no s@@t off anyone. you have rights
