Help, I'm a 13 year old girl with Anxiety o3o

I am kinda looking for people in my age group to give me advice or someone who started around this age because I find that the most helpful. Well, I am 13 and ((great way to start out the new year, huh)) started getting really "fidgedy" and my heart would all of a sudden like, feel like it would flop my whole body upward. That symptom went away and will now start to race out of no where when my brain goes blank or starts stressing or I'll wake up from panic attacks. e3e I will get depressed sometimes too. I worry about my heart since I keep seeing my Grand-Mum watch movies of people getting shot or dying.. Meh, obviously not helping. Second hand smoke makes my asthma worse making all my symptoms worse ((Pbbbbbhhhhffft, this girl in class smokes and E-Cig next me)) All this stuff just makes me worse and I never have the guts to tell them to stop. Well, I feel awkward writing this. (Could imagine this being cause my Social and Health Anxiety) I get much, much, chest tightness; pressure in my stomach region; pains on my left side a lot. Other symptoms I have are contributing more to the menstrual stuff for those people that know what I am talking about here. It could be cause by hormones and will go away or a type of asthma that I know that starts without wheezing or anything. See I did much research on this, the docs aren't sure since I have symptoms that could be either of them, I am leaning towards the Anxiety since I have the heart palpitations and sharp pain.. Can someone ease me into thinking this has nothing to do with my heart and some advice to ease the panic attacks might help?

P.S. I play clarinet in band and I know breathing techniques to slow down my heart rate. But is there anything I can do for self care that can help and something to stop me from depressing myself and getting sad out of nowhere?

I still feel semi-awkward after posting this. :3 I am not good when I ask for something when I need help or asking someone to stop doing something.

can you talk to anyone in your family? can they make an appointment with you at your family doctor's? or maybe the school nurse or a trusted teacher? (i grew up in the us where we had school nurses, so not sure if you have that where you are...) it sounds to me like you have anxiety. you should not have to feel yucky the way you do. if you can stay away from the cigarette smoke - also any caffeine. that isn't good for you. it's hard to tell other people you don't like it, but if you can, move away from it. you have evry right to breathe fresh air! i hope you find a person who can help you get an appt with a doctor. that would probably help you the most. once the doctor sees you have anxiety, you can decide on a way to manage it. very good luck to you!

I have school nurses, the only problem is that everytime I go.. She always prescribes, "gurgle salt water" or "mix table salt and water and use it on the head ache area." I am pretty sure it's her cure. X3 My Mum is getting a better family doctor place with more than 1 doctor that doesn't have to cancel our appointments. Thanks for the help

Hi I'm 18 and my panick attacks and anxiety came around the age of 14/15. It is so horrible I constantly think there is something wrong with me. There was a month last year where I must have been to the doctors about 20 times all because I thought that there was something serious wrong with me. I've had so many check ups, blood tests, heart monitors and everything and it all seems to come back fine. It's easier said then done but the only real thing that can help you is to try your hardest to think positive your a young girl so it is unlikely that something serious is wrong with you. My panick attacks have been not coming as frequently as they used to be now as I have calmed my self down a lot and tried to do things that take my mind off of it. I have had panic attacks so bad that I nearly crashed the car that I drive and ones where I've had to turn around and come back home when I'm on my way somewhere. They are the most horrible things ever and they can really make you feel like something awful is going to happen to you and no one really understands unless they have been through it themselves so it's hard to find someone to talk to. As I have had so many I am slowly learning more and more about trying to prevent them and dealing with them while they are happening. Try to keep yourself busy to keep your mind off of it and try and think positive. Don't let it beat you because it got to the point when I was about 16 I wouldn't leave my house because if I ever got invited out any where I thought oh no I can't because I know I will have a panick attack. But you can't let it take over your life you need to live your only a young girl you have your whole life ahead of you. Don't let it win, you can kick its ass! smile

Hey I've had anxiety for about 10yrs now and I get chest pains and down meet side also the heart palpitations and funny enough I have asthma aswel I used to feel ill quite alot because of it and stomach pains I had numerous tests chest xrays and ct scans but was eventually the chest pains that diagnosed it I used to worry alot thinking it was my heart which only makes you worry more and makes the anxiety worse and in turn the pains get more frequent my way of dealing with it was distractions as meds don't work for me I find listening to music and stuff like that helps anything that takes your mind off thinking about it

Yeah, exactly the same. I have had the anxiety for a month but I have realized that me ignoring it and distracting myself and thinking about how I could get into this really awesome Science Fair thing or playing my instrument helps.

Mostly the instrument X3 I am good at playing my clarinet but sometimes the shortness of breath from my anxiety and asthma prevents that. Tho I still like playing it :3 it's awesome

Ye anxiety can bring itself about with so many symptoms and having asthma doesn't help as I know but basically when you get these symptoms you automatically think it's something worse which in turn will make you more anxious and the symptoms will worsen and I know it's difficult but as long as you know that's what it is and that your not dying it helps abit but ye meds never worked for me which is when I started looking for other ways and found having my music was the best one which is why I never go anywhere without it anymore you want to.look up the symptoms and see just how many are the ones you get and see you're doctor and just say I'm having these symptoms and think it maybe anxiety and see what they say and just get checked out I had everything Checked and when found out my heart was fine I then knew the chest pains I get was due to my anxiety

Oh, I remember something about umm.. Having saftey items like a water bottle, or somethings like that 24/7 can in most cases make your anxiety worse. Cuz then it will make your brain think that you will always need it for te rest of you life I think. But, in some rare cases you brain thinks it is better and will help just when you need it.

Also, can you tell the difference between when your asthma makes your chest tighten and when your anxiety makes your chest tighten? Cuz I can't so far. I've still only had my anxiety for a month and me accepting having anxiety helps me; I usually do deep breathing when I need to with bad attacks.

The best thing for bad attacks is to try relax and control your breathing it's what they actually do at the hospital if you have a panic attack as it's the best way to stop it and I can tell the difference when it's my asthma you'll know like when it gets bad it gets hard to breathe and you're throat can kinda close up abit and it doesnt just go away when it's your anxiety it can be controlled by relaxing and controlling your beathing its a difficult one to get your head around though because the anxiety is basically all in your head but the symptoms are very real but it's how you think about it that determines how bad it gets I just looked up my symptoms to reassure myself that it was in fact my anxiety and not something else

Also the safety thing is quite true I feel better knowing I have my music incase it gets bad or an escape route I feel worse if I know I can't get out of a situation for instance on a train I know if I get bad I'm stuck and can't just jump off if I know I can leave that situation and just be on my own to relax and sort it out I'm fine and obviously the musi thing is easy I have my phone and earphones and can take them anywhere with me because just fits in my pocket

That sounds like a good idea. Also, I stare at computer screens WAY to long. If I look at a screen for to long, I will have trouble concentrating on my typing and screen and everything will blur.

I think everyone gets that there's loads of things about it apparently your not actually supposed to be at a computer for certain amounts of time because you will strain your eyes so really when you get to that just take a little break from it and let your eyes adjust and then go back but best thing is just check your symptoms atleast then you get the reassurance that it's not something it's not and also try to think about something else as the more you think it's something else the more you will worry and in turn the worse the symptoms will be and as you said when you're distracted your ok so you might end up like me and just find the distraction that works for you and also try and write down what you're doing and what type of situations you're in when you get the symptoms and then you can work out if it recurs in similar situations and places you can work.out what thoughts and situations trigger it and in turn try to work.out ways of dealing with them

Yeah, I just did. I'm not straining my eyes at the moment. Though I find it weird since I wear glasses to not strain my eyes when I sit at laptop. They're also prescription. I don't really ever think that my eyes are affected by Anxiety or my legs, I will get cramps in my arm and stomach regions sometimes tho.
