Help?! I've just increased from 100 to 150 and need advice

I am a mess. I keep missing work and feel hopeless. I was on 100mg for about 10 yrs. my mother passed away 6 mths ago and I went to doc due to increased anxiety. Dosage was increased to 150 and Ativan .5 mg if needed. I hate taking Meds so I haven't taken the Ativan yet. I'm into my 4th week now and have not seen much improvement. I have no appetite. I feel hopeless and scared. Can anyone relate or give some feedback?

I really feel for you, I was in ur shoes a few months ago. I've never increased dose before, but I'm guessing it's like at the beginning again and you need to give it at least another 2 weeks. if no change go back to GP. I hate meds too, I'm scared of them now. if the at Ivan can help with the anxiety then use it don't suffer it won't be for long maybe just a couple more weeks. let me know how you get on. we are all here for you.

I'm really sick to my stomach today. I'm on day 26. My heart is always eating around 100bpm. I have no appetite. How do you manage work?

Hello Jashar, so sorry to hear of your mums passing, that i imagine has fuelled your anxiety and sadness issues. plus the side effect of meds which does not help. but i agree with a comment from lattifa7777, if you can ride it out for another few weeks, this should really settle into your system and bring you to much more managable level. are you seeing a therapist too help ?

Mornings are terrible! I am trying to get ready for work right now and my heart is racing. All I can do is pray for good health. Not seeing a therapist.

very familiar , getting worked up before your day has begun, like your dreading what could go wrong next. sometimes these anxiety attacks are a mask to an under lying problem. i sometimes for what could appear no reason at all, burst into tears, and a few days later feel a lot easier. trapped emotions are a big element in this condition i believe. im sure your day will be better than you expect.

How do u mean underlying problems??Ive had a baby 10 weeks could it be that?

      Hello Jennifer,

what i mean by that is anxiety is a cause of other symptoms some times. anger, sadness , lead you to feeling anxious and depression. and having a child i would guess plays havoc with your hormones and emotions, so that sounds like a key part of your feelings.

Thank you Richard I'm on increased dose of setraline 3 weeks today and find myself going back to normal through out patches of the day should I stick with it?

      hello Jennifer,

yes, i would say stick with it for a few more weeks and see how you feel after that. I'm assuming your GP / doctor is worried about post natal depression ? i still get the same spells as you've described sometimes too. very good this morning, around lunch time, tight head aches, nervous feelings, cold tingles. then they dissapear. im only on 50mg, and i'm very reluctant to go higher, as i don't really want to be on them long term.

Thanks Richard yeh I have being diagnosed with pnd and anxiety currently going counselling just wanted to see what others thought in regard s to the medication working

i do believe the medication will have the needed effects for you. it does take its time before you notice though. we as suffers need an instant relief, but thats just not how it works. stay off alcohol , and high caffine intake. i find that increases the syptoms, but thats just my own personal experience.
