Help me!! I am in so much pain!!

Hello,

I have written on here previously and had some amazing answers, today I am having a massive flare again and need some help and hope!!

The doctors are now telling me I am depressed, I can assure you I am not. They are telling me they have done all they can, but this does not help me. I am still in so much pain and I am still having all the symptoms I had before.

Please can someone help me!!

So today I had a flare up, quite large and extremely painful.

I started the day with a green tea and had yogurt and granola, throughout the day I have had green tea, white tea and peppermint tea. I then had a salad for lunch and a few pistachios for a snack.

I am not doubled over with pain, the pain is in the middle of my stomach (from top to bottom) and then either side at the top is really painful. The pain is making me feel nauseous and faint. To help ease the pain I am having to double over but this only relieves it for the moment. It is also causing me to have hot flushes!

Please can someone help me as I am becoming really scared of what it may be.

I have been told it is IBS but I still feel like it is something more. Even if the doctors won’t tell me I would quite like to know what it may be so I can research things that may help.

Thank you in advance!!

I am not overweight and I exercise regularly. Currently I am on the clean eating diet. I don't smoke and I occasionally drink.

I drink at least 1l of water a day and about 4 green teas, so generally I think I am quite healthy.

I had an ultrasound and they said that my ovaries looked fine smile

    Hello Vicky,

My daughter's IBS symptoms sound similar to yours. Doctors have been useless. All tests come back 'normal'. Here in Sydney, our hospital has a pain management team of 4 doctors, 2 social workers, 3 pyschs, 3 physios - 12 "experts" in all and none of them have been able to stop her pain during the past 8 months. She has missed months of school and is still going to the sickbay every day or so. The gastro-enterologists and dietitians have been more helpful but offer no solution. I've read a mountain of stuff about IBS C & D, lower abdominal pain etc etc and I think that Maurice, Dahouk and Ned on this thread have the best solutions so far which I've come across after we've tried buscopan, amiytriptyline, ranitidine (for reflux), new-fangled painkillers (all of them don't work), FodMap diet, non-gluten and non-lactose diets. I agree with Maurice's comments and the guys above that abdominal pain is gastro-related, not psychological at all. (My daughter had no stress at all pre-IBS but all the doctors have been pushing this idea - which doesn't work !) I think the best way to attack the pain is probiotics like VSL3 and to have a go with L-glutamine. Ironically, VSL3 is being trialled for kids with Crohn's Disease (pain-related) here in Sydney and L-glutamine is being tested by the meds at University of Texas Med School. My suggestion is read all of these posts on this thread and try VSL3 and see what happens !

Have you tried holistic approach to see if you can get any answers. Why not try food allergy testing. Or maybe relaxology, I have just start reflexology for IBS. It's no miracle and will take time but it's worth a try.

Hi Vicky, I've suffers your symptoms for 30 years until last year. I finally found an amazing surgeon who suggested I have a hydrogen breath test, which I did and my count was off the scale !!! It was a small bowel bacteria overgrowth which after 2 intense treatments of antibiotics has totally changed my life. Please ask your doctor to test you for this. For the first time in my life I have gone from going to the toilet 16 times a day with bloating and wind constantly to being normal. In addition to that I have a hiatus hernia and reflux which you may have"not give up, it has changed everything, finally having my condition recognised and treated. I know how devastating it is. Good luck x
