Help please! Bartholin's cyst and Im just 17

Please don't tell me to visit a doctor because I just can't, Im very shy and reserved type of person I don't even discuss my periods with my own mom. I have told her about this she has told me that we will see a doctor but I denied, she knows I won't go. Do u people know any alternative of sitz bath? Can I just splash lukewarm water on the area?

Ok first please do not panic its fine, I completly understand the shy not wanting a ton of peoples heads down there..trust me I get it..

So YES there is an alternative to an actual "sitz bath" they sell kits that actually just sit over your toilet and you just "sit" in it several times daily... Warm wash cloths HUGE HUGE HUGE HELP!. more than likely yes its worse because of your mentstal cycle, but it is very possible it will go away on its own. You can help it out by using a warm cloth, and I am not sure if you live in the states (usa) or not, but we have walgreens/CVS pharmacies, Walmart pharmacies, all these places have the Sitz bath kits to help you, so I also suggest NO ICE the cold will yes shrink it but the heat will as well, and the heat will HEAL as the cold just shrinks, and will more than likely come back fast...So Heat Heat Heat...go to a pharm ask if they have a kit

Your period blood will not cause an infection

Have you got a temperature ? Do yoy feel run down ? Is it throbbing with pain .If so it is best to visit a Dr .You can have an escort in the room with you , to calm your nerves.

Sometimes they go away on their own .If sitz baths arent working you may need antibiotics to help resolve it .

I had 2 courses of antibiotics . Hot epsom salt baths . Homeopathic Silicea . Tea tree witch hazel and teatree compresses .Had mine for 4 wks it was a fair size . I think it was a combination of everything that solved it .

I couldnt bear sitting in the sitz bath or the bath for long periods in the bathroom .

Bought a big cat litter tray kept refilling with hot water and epsom salt and table salt . Sat very comfortably in lounge with TV on fire on and my fave vino and snacks.Soaking my nether regions for hrs .. Good luck my love .You are young and im sure we can all remember getting embarassed. I had my first one when I was 23.  This could be your first and only or you might get a few during your life.  FIrst time is scary.  My first one, I didnt go to the doctor...some people it goes away...it didnt for me.  If it hurts really bad best to see a doctor...they can make a little open and it releases it....huge relief.

I know you're completely scared but i say better safe than sorry and go to dr instead of having a huge abcess. I hade this off and on for 4 years. Mine NEVER went away on its own. I always had antibiotics and it would sometimes break (after a week) and drain (NASTY) or the dr had to lance it. I did notice that i would have it right before my period sometimes probably due to hormones but it didn't cause a problem, Just wore a pad. I agree with your mom and go to dr. Dont let this get started. I finally had to have surgery to have my left BG removed and that IS NOT FUN!!! Good luck.

I can tell you're scared. I see you have gotten many feedbacks on here which is wonderful. I have had the Bartholins cyst twice. Most recent was from August to September. The first time I went through the Dr but this last time I educated myself on home treatments and I got many ideas and suggestions here on this awesome forum. You do need to purchase the Sitz bath. It worked better for me than the tub. In that way I did not have to submerge myself in the water. Use regular salt or sea salt, apple cider vinegar and as hot as you can tolerate the water and massage the area whilst sitting in the bath. Now you being on your period makes it difficult, I know as I had 2 periods with the last cyst. If you have some time, please read my discussion on my experience as honestly, a combination of different treatments may work. I spent a lot of money on different things just to get this thing gone but I think the most basic may just work but I do think, without a doubt, you need the sitz bath. I purchased mine at Walgreen's (drug store) . I do not know if you're in the US or not. You've gotten lots of advice I see but please don't be overwhelmed. As you can already tell, this is more common than you'd think. You must speak to your mom about this as you're quite young and you need to purchase some things. Good luck and please keep us posted. I signed up to this forum just to answer. I woke up this morning with the same thing, please don't be embarrassed, as this happens to us women. In fact, I just got back from my gyno and had it drained about 1 hour ago.  Please go and take care of this, no worries at all. Go to a gynocologist. xo's 

I understand you lady.. im older than you when i got like that 13years old and now im 18 that never come back again.. that time when i feel painful, i dont any choice but to go to the ob gyne and my diagnosis was Bartholin abscess. and they do the operation. after that this never come back again.. after 5yrs im not cured.. dont be shy, u better go to physician they know wat to do. im older than u before
