Hi .

I have recently been under loads of stress and grieving. I lost my baby at 27 weeks he was born sleeping :-( 27th January. So since then I have had a lump feeling in my throat started to get worse. ( every day )The past 2 weeks or so this feeling as moved onto my chest In between my boobs . Feels like I got food stuck And it travels up and down . I don't get burning but just feels really uncomfortable. I also have symptoms tingling tongue /roof of my mouth/feels like my throat glands are swollen but they not. Really uncomfortable. sometimes I'll get a metal taste is my mouth . Taste abit like blood . My doctor first said I had globus sensation when I just had the lump in my throat ........ From suffering from bad health anxiety and depression I just got told to get a life from a nurse . By the way this is after 3 weeks of losing my baby boy !!!!! Absolutely disgusting How I've been treated. So I seen another doctor last week she said it could be acid reflux and referred me to ENT and gave me tablets. I have this feeling all day every day. Not had a break and could really do with my body going back to normal . Really struggling with this as I think I have some serious illness ( like cancer ovs that's the anxiety side ) but can't help but feel that way , want my baby too xxx so please can someone help me on what to do if it is or sounds like reflux to you xx many thanks

So sorry to hear about your loss but the first thing you need to do is relax, all this worrying doesn't help the situation and can actually make it worse. Remember how if you cut yourself and you keep thinking about the cut it feels worse, try to ignore it and then you forget about it.

You need to give the tablets time to work depending on what they are. You have been referred to a specialist so that is good .

It could be a million and one things. Do you worry that everytime you drive your car you are going to be killed, of course not. So why think the worse of a condition. It could be reflux or something that will just go away of its own accord.

Relax, watch what you are eating as reflux is easily aggrevated by certain foods. There is some stuff I adore which I now avoid and that is with all the medication I am taking.

Thankyou :-) is chewing peppermint make it worse . . . Can acid reflux be curred or is it a life time. I don't eat good meals . I only eat once a day that's at tea time ( bad I know ) I had good meals in pregnancy and also craved oranges I ate loads !!!! Yeah I do have silly throats but this is down to health anxiety .

I find with my acid reflux that its important to eat regularly otherwise it gets painful. My friends even comment that I get grumpy if I don't eat on a regular basis. Now oranges can be very acidic so I don't eat them very often.

I would say that I manage my acid reflux by what I eat and I need medication as well. Balancing the two I am symptom free which is good enough for me.

Try eating well and regularly and see if your condition improves.

Hello natashaloo...First of all, I am SO sorry for your loss. I lost a set of twins once, it's very hard when that happens, very hard! I grieved for months. I did see one of my boys, and for about 6 months I would have a flashback of that moment. It would even wake me up sometimes. But, as time passes it will get better, although the date will remind you once a year, for me, that hasn't stopped. But now, about your lump feeling in your esophagus. I've had that too, I also have had that feeling of it moving up and down. Like something is stuck, it's weird. But my digestive problems grew from that to other things as well. This is how I cured myself: I found probiotics! I take one 50 Billion Live Culture capsule a day. Ultra Flora Critical Care Probiotics, I got them in the refrigerator section of the Healthfood Store. It took mine a few days to work at getting rid of the pain, then after a week or so my symptoms were so much better I was able to eat again, AND sleep. I was having terrible pain when I burped! Now that was weird! But it's gone now, I'm eating and sleeping normally after months of pain.

You hang on sweetie, you'll feel better again. The pain of the loss of a child is one that most people just don't get. Like that nurse who said that terrible thing to you, it was HER OWN inability to cope that was the problem! NOT YOU! And if you ever need to talk about it I'm ready and willing to listen, I've been there so I know what you are going through. I used to look at twin boys and cry, and even though I still feel that loss, I'm doing much better now. I even asked my doctor what I did wrong. He was a WONDERFUL man and explained to me that it wasn't anything I did, and that those things just happen sometimes, he was a gentle soul, I was fortunate to have had him as my doctor.

I hope you feel better soon honey, try those probiotics they REALLY helped me!

Awwww Jenny thankyou so much . I'm sorry for your loss too. Angel babies together. Yeah I struggle most days . I blame my self for why I lost him . But everyone said it's the doctor's fault and hospital. I was poorly for the last month of the pregnancy blurried vision, head aches to the point I couldn't get out of bed, water and kidney infections had that on and off through my pregnancy :-( white cells and protein in urine and just felt poorly. I didn't feel him move for about a month and they said he was fine and I was fine . They didn't do a scan just checked his heart beat once when I first started feeling unwell .I had a low placenta too . So my mum thinks I had pre eclampsia . Waiting for result to come back . HEART BREAKING :-( we layed him to rest last week x I just want my body to go back to normal :-( lump feeling and pains in chest . Can't deal with it all aswell as grieving.......my thought are with u xx

Not your fault, don't even go there in thought, please believe me. Something went wrong that's all it is. Blaming yourself will only lead to more problems down the road. I understand how you feel completely, but don't carry that around. Think of the baby when you need to, talk about the baby when you need to but please don't ever blame yourself. I read something once that really helped me: "Time and unforeseen occurrence befall us all." It's very hard to deal with but ....its not your fault sweetie.

Now is the time to take care of you. Heal physically, and the rest of your healing will follow.

natasha I cannot offer anymore advice than you have already received and blasted acid reflux is literally a pain in many many ways and knowing how to reduce or indeed prevent it seems to me a dark art.

However my real reason for contacting you is to say that I wish to join everyone else in saying how sorry I am to read of your tragic lose.

I can only hope that as time goes on the pain will get less and less. All I can add is that in the space of a very short time you have had to deal with some life changing events so of cause you will be feeling depressed and why shouldnt you but please dont bottle it all up inside but instead confide how you are feeling to your close friends and family as I am sure they will want to help you get through this awful time. Best wishes Ted

Hi so I have appointment at ent I have to have a camera up my nose and down my throat . Does this camera go down to your chest as well to see what's going on . Cuz this feeling of something stuck in my chest and throat is really driving me crazy so uncomfortable :-(

I have the exact same thing going on for a few weeks now and it is totally uncomfortable and aggravating, I can't really tell if it is my lung or GI tract or both.  The scope does not go into your lungs, it would be cool if it did.  For your lungs you will need a chest xray or CT scan.  I had a chest xray and it was clear, so my next step will probably be the endoscopy too...  friggin pain in the a-hole.
