Heredity and PMR

Does anyone have scientific or anecdotal information about genetic inclination to PMR? I have no information that any of my direct lineage, aunts, uncles, cousins, neices or nephews  have had PMR. But it was only identified in the mid 1960's, right? I believe there is a genetic correlation for rheumatoid or other  specfic auto immune disorders. Thanks .

Hi Dan   I have had PMR for 19months ( whose counting!) and my Mum had GCA for about 2 years then it went away had a lingering osteo in her fingers however her Dr said it was unrelated.  It could be genetic I'd say, however also diet related maybe as I got it at a much younger age than Mum and she ate pretty well - smaller amounts and not so much meat.  Are we eating ourselves to death.  I'm not a hugh eater and not overweight ( well just a little), however Mum was always a small eater.  Just a rambling not scientificly based.

      Hi Denise

      Yes Yes Yes

I think you have focused on something that is critical to my health improvement, so obvious and so apparently easy, yet my big challange.

      Eat small.

I've gained 35 lbs (16 kg) in 1 year, I'm into PMR this time for about 18 months also.

      Eat Small.

And how many studies have we read that show reduced caloric intake increases life expectancy, and resultant lower weight improves health and quality of life.

      Eat Small.

And I road biked 20 miles (32 km) a day, (pre PMR) for a decade, with a diet of at least 3500 calories to support that. It's hard to change a life of caloric overconsumption, justified by physical expenditure, When the ability for physical expenditure is abruptly ended by PMR.

      Eat Small.

Two small words. Shall this by my new mantra?

      Thank you Denise, great reply!
