Herpes or not? Please help me :(

hi guys so ive been having symptoms for about 5 days now and i went to the gyno and she told me that it was herpes.... I started off thinking it was just my skin rubbing off together creating a rash and couple pimples between my vagina and anus... then i took monistat because i thought it was a yeast infection.... 5 days later these red "pimples" are all around the lips of my vagina and some of them have even popped. Looking at pictures of herpes online - mine looking nothing like them.... can someone help me? I dont wanna wait for my swab tests 😦 heres the picture i took the 1st day i noticed them and today....

I have genital hsv-1 and it didnt look like this but it also didnt look anything like a classic case. 2 doctors even told me it was nothing to worry about but my test was positive. So there really is no way to visually tell. But either way just relax! I know this probably isnt what you want to hear, and I know that right now it probably seems like your world could come crashing down, but IF its positive I PROMISE you wont feel like that forever.. Just keep reading about it and educating yourself..."honeycomb forums" is another good forum group and so many questions can be answered by surfing through there... As for your boyfriend, odds are IF its positive for herpes its from him. Like others said, yes it can flare up whenever, but if its active hsv2 and this is your first outbreak you most likely got it recently... Transmission rates are about 10-15% with type 2 when no symptoms are present, so it would make sense that it would take a ton of sex with him before you caught it. Don't play the blame game but you should ask him if hes ever had a cold sore as a child, and if he says no, ask him if hes ever been blood tested specifically for hsv. They dont test for it in routine std testing, only if you ask for it or if you show syptoms. Also, most people that have it dont show any symptoms at all. So it would most likely be from him.. You should tell him and maybe even show him whats going on and that you havent gotten your results yet and you would like him to be tested too.. being on the same page and going through this together, rather than you just telling him could take a lot of stress off of the disclosing part, in reality since this is sexual health related this is both of your issue not just yours... Im not sure how old you are but if its a serious relationship and he is mature it probably wont be an issue... If you need to talk feel free to message me! I read sooo much after my first outbreak.

I just want to say I am so thankful for people like you. thank you for the suggestions/tips, i will most certainly not be playing a blame game... And im 19 years old so this is kind of a traumatic experience. I will actually keep you in mind if i have further problems which I am hoping these tests come back negative

iam in the same position as you im to scared to tell my partner i think i deffo have it and mine looks the same it all started through friction of sex i hadnt been with any one for a year before my new partner and had all std checks so thought i was safe

Did you go to the doctor to get it checked? you should get a swab/blood test done. Herpes is not one of the things they check for in a basic std check - usually you would have to ask your doctor to check more.

It just looked like raw skin! My doctor initially diagnosed it as a tare in my hymen from a little too much intercourse, until my results came back.

you have been with him for 6 months and this just happened 5 days ago? i dont think its herpes if youve never had this before. if you wax/shave this could be the result of these bumps. honestly you should just get them swabbed ask for them to expedite it and get the results in a couple days.

dont cry! i think you should be fine

I honestly used an old shaver before i shaved last week but the doctor seemed pretty positive she knew what she saw. thank you for the peace of mind.

herpes can lay dormant and flair up for the first time when it wants really!

he doesnt have to have had an outbreak to pass it orally or genitally most people dont know they have it! this is how it spreads so easily!

to be it doesnt look like the typical herpes but herpes is difficult to visually diagnose!

keep calm and wait for you swab results if you got some! although herpes seems like the end of the world it really isnt! there is worse things that can happen x

Thats what I read online, but even my doctor asked me if he's been down on me in the past 3 weeks - which he has not... I have had multiple sexual partners so i wouldnt be surprised if its not from him.

Do you think I should wait for my results to tell him or tell him now? We honestly see eachother every day and I cannot even fathom holding this in with him... I feel more bad for him than I do myself. but thank you for the response, really helped calm me

personally if it was me, id say something to him what your going through! i have HSV2 and just have taken the approach to be open from the start!! But i know hard it can be!

Go with your gut! He may be really supportive for you which will really help!

But if it is something and you tell him after all this time he may not be happy!

No problem! feel free to message me if you need to x

I went with my gut, and I told him that my results could come back for herpes. I felt so relieved he handled it so well - he proceeded to google it himself so he could be more familiar with it. If you truly love and trust the person you are with, they will love you the same. Thank you so much.

hi, this does look like herpes. what other symptoms do you have? headache? fever? are they painful or itch? it can lay dormant for a long while and pop up espcially if you have bv, yeast infection or anything else that can lower your immune system. i would not tell your boyfriend until you get the results. but do NOT have sex or anything until you do get answers.

i had a couple headaches last week right before they popped up if that counts as any other symptoms? everything else has been around my coochie area. it can sometimes be itchy, sometimes they will sting, and peeing will sting depending if its on a open blister or not, and i do have discomfort when i am sitting and walking.

yes headaches are common for people with herpes since it affects your nervous system. when did you get swabbed? a blood test would tell if this infection is new or not. If the swab comes back negative, I would wait 3 months then go back and get a blood test. Im hoping the best for you though!

I got swabbed 5 days after i noticed symptoms (yesterday morning) she said the results should be in friday morning, if not, friday afternoon(about 2 days). I will definitely be looking into doing a blood test - will a blood test show anything if I am not experiencing outbreaks/symptoms at the time? Thank you for replying !!!

i know during my first outbreak, I didnt get swabbed until 7 days after i noticed symptoms. it still came back positive but i also had new sores forming when i got checked. a blood test will tell you if you have it even if you show no symptoms
