hi guys so ive been having symptoms for about 5 days now and i went to the gyno and she told me that it was herpes.... I started off thinking it was just my skin rubbing off together creating a rash and couple pimples between my vagina and anus... then i took monistat because i thought it was a yeast infection.... 5 days later these red "pimples" are all around the lips of my vagina and some of them have even popped. Looking at pictures of herpes online - mine looking nothing like them.... can someone help me? I dont wanna wait for my swab tests 😦 heres the picture i took the 1st day i noticed them and today....

It can lay dormant for many months before an obvious outbreak occurs. This has happened to a couple people I know.

Even if it is herpes, trust me, it's not nearly as bad as things may seem. Don't give yourself PTSD over this when it's completely not worth it.

The affect this has on you if it is herpes in terms of value as a person, attraction and desirability by men is negligible to ZERO. Trust me on this. More people have herpes than don't, and many of them don't realize it. Thousands get diagnosed every day; it's incredibly common. Take deep breaths and whatever it is, just deal with it and move on and focus on things in your life that actually deserve the focus, not dumb old herpes, as annoying as it may be.

If thats the case - do you recommend i get a blood test to see how long i've actually had the virus (my gyno said they could do this)?

I think i'm having a hard time processing everything because I have known nothing on herpes until literally my diagnosis.

Its still a shock so i will be doing a lot more research to make myself better.

keeping my head up for this. thank you.

I would like to inform anyone who is curious on what these are, my swab results came back positive for type 1 herpes, negative for type 2. The doctor told me that it would take someone who has or had cold sores and performed oral sex on me (my boyfriend has never experienced any symptoms) but it may have been from my past.

I hope I will not be experiencing any of these painful symptoms again. But if anyone is experiencing something like this - it is not the end of the world, just think about all the people who have cold sores!!! Also dont diagnose yourself from the internet - go to the doctor and get yourselves checked 😃 Thank you to everyone who has replied and helped me out these past couple of days.

It really is not the end of the world at all. Unfortunately it's made into much bigger deal because of the stigma, but we always must remember that "stigma" is just fearful ignorance. That is it's definition in many social contexts, such as addiction and herpes. People don't understand it (read: ignorance) so they fear it in completely illogical ways which often make what they don't understand to be much worse, evil, etc. than what it truly is. Education is the key. The fact is, herpes is really not that big of a deal at all in the grand scheme of things; there are MANY much bigger things to focus on and worry about in life that truly demand your attention over this. Then there's the fact that, ironically, most people who perpetuate this fearful ignorance of herpes actually have it and don't know it: the latest study from the WHO is that up to 90% of all adults have either type-1 or type-2 herpes. Keep the positive attitude and keep moving forward. When an outbreak occurs, just like anything else in life, deal with it as best you can (like maybe taking meds if it helps) and move forward. Best of luck to you.
