hi
I am a 25 yo male, i have been suffering from chest pain now for nearly 3 months, i have had ecg and chest x-ray which were fine, my gp diagnosed tietzes, so i researched about it on the web, after finding this site i read through all the other sufferers(whom i sympathise with greatly) accounts. The thing is my pain is not constant, but i have pain every day, it is sharp pains that last only a short time, i.e. 1 or 2 mins at most, is anyone else having pains similar? i also dont have pain when im taking deep breaths, am starting to doubt if it is tietzes, the pain is mostly on my left side but can be felt anywhere on the chest and it occurs when am resting as well as lifting anything heavy.
I was wondering if anyone else was having similar symptoms.

The pain started about 2 months ago as just slight aches in my chest that would only last for a few seconds and then go, the pain was located close to my heart, deeper that the chest muscle but because It was so quick and short I just ignored it. I put it down to possibly lifting to many weights at the gym!
A few weeks later I had a very sharp and strong pain in my chest again only lasting 2 seconds but it scared me as the pain was intense and made me drop a can of drink all over me.
I went to A and E and was told that I just had a chest infection ( I did have a bit of a cold at the time ) after x rays and an ecg. I was told to take some tablets and come back if the pain continued. The pain did not go away and in seemed to come more often with a dull ache in my chest which has slowly moved to my right side. The pains ony aches only last a few seconds and then disapeared . I feel that my breathing has suffered as I feel like my chest is now constanly tight or tensed, I have to take a deep braeath every so often.
Anyway I went to my GP today and he has reassured me that I do not have lung cancer or heart problems but Tietzes syndrome, although I am having another xray in a few weeks and a blood test just to make sure.
I am glad that I finally have a bit of light at the end of the tunnel although I am supprised to hear that this is caused partly by stress as I am not the type of person who paincs or gets stressed easily. I am fairly laid back and tend to ignor most stressful problems and I was also on my xmas holiday from work, not realy stressful times.
I hope this helps

I am 45 yrs Male none smoker, weight ok aswell.I had severe pleurisy approx 4 yrs ago and it left me with severe chest pains mainly left side of chest but can happen on the right side aswell, also have pains down the arms at same time, pain can be minor or severe but never last's more than a minute or so.I also went to the doctors,he sent me to the Hospital where my heart was tested all ok.So Tietze's was diagnosed had it now for 4 yrs not got any better sometimes it feels like a knife stuck between the ribs,Told by Doctor nothing can be done might last a few years or never go!.So yes I have similar symptoms and the same worry, have they diagnosed wrong, but no they haven't it's natural to worry when you have chest pains.
Sorry to hear other people suffer aswell but glad to see a problem can be shared
