I'm a newbie, joined yesterday. Have already found a very nice person to chat to. My GP wanted me on home oxygen but the Chest Clinic said I wasn't bad enough as my blood oxygen was 92-3ish. Realising now that mine is not half as bad as some others, although, like you, I have various other things wrong with me. Thinking has changed about ulcers being caused by worry, stress or alcohol. It's quite often Helicobacter-Pylori- bacteria infection that causes most ulcers. It's somewhere on this Site (I just Googled the spelling and this site came up). Wow if I was passing black stuff, I wouldn't have waited 12 hours before I called an ambulance!
Anyhow, pleased to welcome you to the site. I reckon it's good and the people seem friendly.

It's not you cutting the words in half, this site doesn't have wrap round text, so it looks like words are getting split up but they come out OK.
Hope you have a relatively good day....Regards, Val.

When I had my 2nd heart attack at the hospital, the doctor gave me an aspirin to melt and said "I've just saved your life". He was ever so young, and I replied "what you think you're on Holby City now or something" He laughed his socks off!!! But then I felt the severe pain and jokes were over! He was really good though, according to my son he whipped the staff into action, called up my TIA records and got things moving very fast and I got a quick transfer to the London Chest Hospital so, in effect, he did save my life...!!
I've had two lots of blood taken from my groin, one absolutely pain free so when the next time came I was quite confident....silly me...different doctor...hurt like hell .....!!!
Haven't read your profile yet, don't know my way around the site too good yet, but I'll have a good go.
Nice having a chat, will be back soon. Regards, Val and keep up the funnies....!!!!

I too have COPD and spend 16 hrs a day trying not to commit hari kari on the miles of oxyen lead that seems to follow me round the house, trying to trip me up like a playful puppy.I also have numerous health issues which cause a lot of problems most of which can be sorted by a cocktail of drugs. The only one that doesn't come with a pill is my 17 yr old daughter with the enormous chip on her shoulder.I don't go out much in the winter but I do a lot of crafts which keep me out of trouble.Only the week before xmas I landed up in hospital for a week with a cold but apparently my sats go down dangerously low in a very short time so it doesn't take much for me to book a bed .Its so nice to find a site that isn't American, anyway with any luck i'll be able to find my way back again,it has been quite refreshing to read your chats so I hope you haven't minded me butting in .Well I'm off to bed but as you can see I don't do to much of that but heres hoping .night for now.Take care . Glad you have a hobby to keep you occupied, we all seem to have them to get by and through the day, which can be long and boring if you don't have something to keep your mind off things.
As you say, UK sites are in the minimum, most of the internet seems to come from USA, which have an entirely different outlook .
Hope you have a good day today and with a bit of luck it won't be endless rain and you will be able to find your way back to the site (bookmark it or put it in Your Favourites), as you are most welcome. Regards, Val.

Thanks for replying to me,like you I came across the site by chance. I wanted some ideas on how people with our condition manage to loose weight as for us exercise is not easy.I couldn't help but laugh as my oldest daughter has not long come back from the states and I've got myself a bat mobile(mobility scooter) I find it a little embarrassing to go out on at present,it's only a bit of pride getting in the way, but she was saying that even the young people over there were hiring them rather than use the old legs, so I will comepletely fit in .lol. We are at present saving to go back to the States as we went in 2004 but we didn't know how poorly I was so and had the most horrible time, however because of the heat etc I decided I could do with loosing a decent amount of weight .So with a trim figure and the bat mobile the world will be my oyster whilst the girls are doing the rounds of roller coasters I can do a few museums, it won't be for a couple of years yet but its so nice to have something to aim for.Anyway I have rambled far too long so and I do competitions as one of my hobbies I need to do a few now as the closing dates are tonight. Sorry about drivelling on and I hope your day has been productive ,but any ideas on the weight loss would be very welcome.Take care.

You would think having a 15 year age gap between children would be a safe bet. They are both good but torment each other mercilessly. Its lovely coming on here as another site I have been on, they seem to compete as to who is the illest. So chatting to Val and now yourself its nice to have a little sense of normality even thou we have a few problems.I do hope these side effects are a short lived pain in the butt , but take care for now and hopefully catch up with you when you are feeling better.Take care for now.
