I've been on Sertraline for 10 yrs. I like to explain the issue of being numb is Sertraline takes away the really lows, but also takes away the really highs. Good luck

Personally speaking, that's exactly what happened to me. I was never really happy, and never really sad, just there. For awhile I didn't mind because the panic attacks stopped, and anxiety was very low. Eventually, I grew sick of not feeling anything, not living just existing, so I quit the med cold turkey. I don't recommend that for anyone, because it was hell on earth. Once the withdrawal ended, and I had my first hard laugh in years, it was absolutely amazing, and something I desperately missed. That "alive" feeling lasted for a while, but with the good comes the bad, and it's just as intense. I've been off of the med for 5 years now, but it hasn't been easy. I'm now at a point where I'm considering going back on them. Being old, and hopefully wiser, I'll learn to work with the medication instead of thinking that the medication has to work for me without any effort on my part. That's how I viewed it years ago, but that's not how it works.
This was just my experience, but everyone is different. No matter what it takes, get in to see your doctor to help figure out what's going on, or what needs to be changed. Just don't do the anything stupid like I did.

Thanks psyched out, I too am sick of not feeling anything, and I'm scared of coming off sertraline in case depression gets worse. Will see gp and wean off slowly and see how it goes. Feel like I've missed years of living.

You might just need a different dose, different med, or a break from it all. I don't doubt that I'll be on it for life, but nobody said that there couldn't be some breaks in there. Maybe the Zoloft would work better after a break, because the body had time to chill out and ditch the chemicals. If that's not a possibility for some people, then a med change might be better. I was diagnosed at age 23, so when people I know (nieces and nephews) ask my age, I say 23, because that's when I feel my life stopped.
