Hi there,

Just needed to touch base with other implanon users. Had a baby girl in July and opted for Implanon for family planning, as I am quite forgetful when it comes to taking the pill.

I chose to look at a few forums worldwide as of the last few days, just to gain an insight to implanon effects.

I have had it in for a month and within 2 weeks a had a period that lasted a week, very unusual for me. But the most worrying side effect has been the way I have been feeling the last few days. Nervous, anxious, depressed. The thoughts have just been doom and gloom, fear of losing my husband and loved ones, not wanting myself or husband to leave the house, and constantly crying. Has anyone else felt this way or been depressed. Never felt like this before!!! Thankssadsad:yikes:

gosh i never thought that my anxiety has become worse recently possibly due to the implant. at first i had mood swings, i worry constantly about little things all the time, and i feel tearful and like i have had enough of my life. i never thought it could be the implant.

I have had the depo injection and had that for 3years, my doctors told me i must stop immediatley as the longer you have the injection the more infertile you can become. They switched me onto the implant which i had fitted in June 2005 and i had it removed August 2007 for the want of a baby!

Please do not be fooled by this implant!!! I didnt bleed for 6months when i first had this in! I then started bleeding for a month at a time and since October 2006 i had bled constantly with probably a months break of a day here and a day there. I found this very distressing and decided to have it taken out!!! (Also me and my partner are wanting to try for a baby!)

I have to say, the day before i had it taken out was the day me period stopped and touch wood i havent come on since!!!

I dont know if someone can enlighten me on how long it is before you have a period once it is removed only the nurse who took it out told me 7-10days and 6weeks later i am still waiting!! I have tested just incase i am pregnant and it was negative! Plus i am still waiting to lose this stone that you are meant to lose within 6weeks!!!

PLEASE DO NOT BE FOOLED - THIS IMPLANT REALLY IS NOT WORTH THE HASSLE!!!

I had the omplant put in when i ws 18

Then lived with a 3 month period which was very light.

After that i have had no period for two and a half years, which was great.

Now two and a half years on, my breasts have swollen and hurt to the point were hugging someone is now painful experience.plus after years of no periods i've got one an is extremely heavy.

for me the worst side effect have been the mood swings

they are uncontrollable and very regularly turn to rage

the rage includes evrything from slamming doors and breaking things to wanting to hurt myself. i wasn't like it before i had it.

jealouy and clinginess are a big factor

but mostly loosing my temper largely, over nothing...my poor partner.

you could call it being a women a beg to differ, all drugs to a point have side effects an everyone is different. by not knowing any side effects of this implanon i decided i was just turning into a horrid person. through desperation an running out of options i looked on this site.

Im getting it out as its nearly time to have it out anyway. if your anythng like me it seems like a great idea but please be careful as i dont want anyone living with the huge mood swings and rage i've had.

ive been on the implant for 1 and a half years and before that i was on depo for 3 years, i havnt had a period in nearly 5 years but today i have got a light one, this might sound disgusting but the kind you would find at an end of a period( dark red/brown, sticky) kinda period. it is a light one but im worried as i got told it was a sign of pregnancy 2, or it could be a symptom of something more serious, any suggestions????? what do u all think it is?? its saturday and i cant get to a doctors untill monday afternoon as i start a new job on monday morning. i only had the implant done a week a go and I've just spent the day crying over nothing, except old stuff which doesn't bother me anymore, and i don't like it!!!

i just spoke to my friend on the phone and all she asked was if i was okay, and i started sobbing! i really don't like this, but the pill made me ill so i can't take that. did anyone else suffer like this, from being over-emotional? if so, did it last the whole time or just the first few months?

    thanx

My daughter has had her 2nd injection and is due her 3rd in December but she is not going to take it. She has been crying non stop for weeks and not coping with little things. She has been quite afraid of how she has been feeling as things in her life in general are going well. I completely see a change in her emotional state since using this injection and i'm glad she is coming off it. I think it is a very dangerous drug.

My daughter has had 2 injections and is an emotional wreck. She can't stop crying and is thinking of giving up her final year at uni as she is feeling so low. I'm really glad to read how others have been affected emotionally but has anyone been on anti depressants to help them through this experience? Needless to say she is not taking any more injections.

I have been on Implanon for 4 years now. My first implant my periods stopped which was great, and gradually came back on after 2.5 years. I did put some weight on and my sex drive has been very low for ages, but I couldnt say that it isnt just me.

My second implant has been in for a year now, and I am a bit concerned as my periods are lasting about 10 days, and my last one was for 18 days. I went to the Dr and am now taking the pill as well to 'steady my hormones'.

I would strongly recommend this as a contraceptive for the first time if you can cope with a little weight gain and not having periods, but I am not sure about replacing it, and am thinking of having it removed, except there is nothing else so practical available.

I have only just had the implant

    and have been experiencing pain

when I go to have sexual intercourse,

I don't know whether it has made me tighter,

but the further my boyfriends penis goes in,

it feels more painful, I was just wondering whether

this is due to the implant and whether it will go away

This never happened before and only just started happening

    after the implant was inserted.

 when having put the implant in it felt fine, my arm pained slightly but that was understandable. after the first 2 months i had gained 2 stone, my period was now 3 weeks long and heavy (which didn't do too much for my sex life), my mood swings were unbearable and by 10 months of having it in I decided to take it out. The scar is large and unatractive, My nurse had differcauty taking it out and took 1 hr. This was a bad experience for me. Having taken it out, for the first 3 months my periods were heavy and contained blood clots, but are now back to normal. overall bad experience.
