Hi there,
Just needed to touch base with other implanon users. Had a baby girl in July and opted for Implanon for family planning, as I am quite forgetful when it comes to taking the pill.
I chose to look at a few forums worldwide as of the last few days, just to gain an insight to implanon effects.
I have had it in for a month and within 2 weeks a had a period that lasted a week, very unusual for me. But the most worrying side effect has been the way I have been feeling the last few days. Nervous, anxious, depressed. The thoughts have just been doom and gloom, fear of losing my husband and loved ones, not wanting myself or husband to leave the house, and constantly crying. Has anyone else felt this way or been depressed. Never felt like this before!!! Thanks:yikes:

ps. The company that manufactures this product should provide us all with M&S knickers - because I don't have a decent pair left!!!

I went to see a private gynaeocologist and she told me that some people do react really badly to the injection. It gave me some comfort that she said that what I have been experiencing is \"normal\" for people who react badly to the injection and there is more than likely nothing physically wrong with me you just have to wait for the injection to wear off. She examined me to check that I didn't have any cysts on my ovaries which you can get with prolonged bleeding (I wasn't warned about this before I had the injection). I am having an ultrasound scan at the hospital next week to check that there isn't anything physically wrong with me.
You need to push though to get anything on the NHS.

When it came to having it removed because of wanting more children my nightmare began, I went to the dr and he wouldnt remove it without the nurse, booked another appointment with dr n nurse, No removal as the doctor couldnt feel it, he then referred me to someone else more experienced, she couldnt feel it, No removal, she referred me to 2 others, they too couldnt feel it.
I eventually went back to the original dr whom inserted it and asked him to find me someone.
I then spoke to the dr whom was willing to give it ago with ultrasound equip, went for appt, he couldnt see it on scan but said he could feel something and was willin to put me under the knife...Success...Removed but i now hav a very large scar as the dr explained it was inserted incorrectly and was down very deep.
Since removal we hav been trying to concieve but 6 months on still no joy, I sometimes wonder if my fertility has been affected by this error by my original dr.
Please anyone with similar problems, Please Reply.

I got my period the first week of March and it lasted two weeks. Actually, it was extremely light the entire time. A doctor friend of mine said that it was probably me shedding the lining of my uterus for good.
It is now the middle of June and I have not had another period since then. I have not experienced any problems with acne, headaches, mood swings, or depression. I have put on some weight, but I think it has more to do with the types of food I have been eating and not so much due to an increase in appetite.
I am very happy with this foolproof protection. I used to be on Depo Provera for years, but this is even better since I don't have to get shots every three months.
I know people have some negative things to say about this product, but it has worked out really well for me. I also tend to think that people are more fired up to post negative experiences online than positive ones. It's not a perfect solution for everybody, but I hope it works for you. Good luck!

I have been on the depo injection for the past 3 years and I'm probably the only patient at my doctors that still has irregular bleeding.
I already have my injection at 10 week intervals and for the past 4 weeks (while I was on holiday :x ) have had a period and it doesn't seem like it's going to end.......
My doctor has recommended the implant, but reading up I'm not convinced... can anyone recommend anything else.... help......
