Hi, just diagnosed last month with PMR and am on 20mg of pred.  I have noticed a vertical indentation from the top/hairline running down my forehead.  It's not another wrinkle or line but definately an indentation.  It's been there for a couple of weeks now and it has got longer in size.  I have used search engines but really cannot find an awful lot about it.

I have honestly never heard anyone comment about something like that before!!!!!

Are you sure it isn't because of fluid retention due to the pred? Before losing a lot of pred weight I did have a couple of creases that can only have been due to lying against things, if you see what I mean.

Thanks Eileen but no it's not from fluid retention.  It has been there for a couple of weeks and is there permantly.  My face is not full and if I have put on any weight it hasn't been much.  I know the older you get you can get lines from lying on the pillow and they take ages to go away but this indentation is not for going.

Interesting one!   Not come across that one personally. Only answer I can think of is - worry!

Reply, through John.  No, don't worry. Worry makes PMR worse!,  See a doctor.  Good luck.

I know it is puzzling.  I have used the search engines and there was something about temporal arteritis among other things.  Because I have looked so much I cannot remember now where I saw it.

Worry (no chance) I don't waste mental energy on things I can do nothing about.  Thanks anyway

Thanks Constance no chance of me worrying and that's the truth.  Next time I'm at drs I will mention it, or show it.  I am in no hurry to be seeing a doctor unless I have to.

    Hi Pat,

    this is quite weird.

i was diagnosed with PMR, last April. Started  with 20 mg pred.

i am not sure how long after I started, but I had developed a fairly long indentation across my left cheek.

i mentioned it to my husband who absent mindedly agreed I had an indent( but of course, he wasn't concerned (it wasn't about him.)

after a while, I stopped paying attention to it.after all, it's no big deal in the scheme of

    things.

when I saw your post, I laughed and checked my cheek, and it's GONE!

don't sweat the small stuff. Ok?

Thanks Barb, all information is very welcome.  It may nor may not be anything to do with PMR or pred and yet it might.  I honestly don't care that much about how it looks it's just so odd.  I really don't sweat the small stuff, if the vertical indentation stays it stays and if it goes it goes.  No worries.

That's weird - I had exactly the same on my forehead a couple of weeks ago. I'm only on 3.5 mg but I had just had two steroid injections in my knees. It only lasted a few days and then disappeared. Hopefully yours will too!

Dinah thank you for your input.  I agree it's odd.  Mine has been there weeks now and as I said it doesn't matter how it looks, it's what it is.  I will find out sometime on my next visit to drs.

It is SO bizarre - I now have a vertical "crease" running down my forehead into my eyelid about 1/3 of the way along my eyebrow! I noticed it after the last response I wrote here!

      It must be catching...

Well it is bizarre - you now have a crease running down your forehead and into eyelid.  Mine is definately an indentation and is slanted a bit but no where near my eyes.

Just got my appointment for Endocrinology 8th January, which is not that far away.  Why I am going I dinnae know but will soon find out when I get there.

Apologies if I have missed this - but where are you from? Dinnae suggests a Scottish heritage to me...

Come on Eileen (sorry you must get that a lot) - you must be able to come up with a scientific explanation....

Funnily enough Dinah - no I don't! My family and friends obviously indulge in other types of music!!!!

We don't have access to pictures on here do we? Maybe this is a discussion to transfer to the PMRGCAUK northeast forum - where we have a section for photos and stuff. Not that I could contribute, I don't even have a camera!!!
