Help
Has anyone out there with a Hiatus Hernia experienced what feels like heartburn in your back and left arm. I have been diagnosedwith a Hiatus Hernia and take 30mg of Lansoprazoleonce a day and 10 of Motilium 3 times a day. But it doesn't seem to help the pain I have. I have had pain every single day for the past 2years and swapped between meds i.e omeprazole etc but nothing seems to work. I lot of the symptoms on research only states chest but I get it bad in my upper back around that knot thing in your kneck then it goes down my arm. Just wondered if anyone else has had this. Before I was diagnosed I thought I was dying I had seen every consultant you can imagine from heart, back brain to stomach. The docs seem to think now I know what it is I should feel less anxitey, well I don't as still feel really bad pain every day and meds not working.

I seem to share the same discomfort of chronic left-sided pain, radiating into the armpit and left shoulder blade. You mention you have had some success with acupuncture. Where do they place the needles? Is the relief almost instant? How frequently do you have to go for acup. treatment? ( My insurance does not cover acupuncture though it does chiropractic.) Thanks for any suggestions.
P.S. It has only been in the last 6 mos. that I've begun to feel the L shoulder blade pain. Two yrs. ago the GP said I likely had frozen shoulder; now I wonder if that is all part-and-parcel of the discomfort!

Thank you all for your replies sorry I haven't been back on here for over a year. I have had a terrible year with this pain meds are just not working for me. It has given me a lot of anxity and depression. It has made me virtually house bound. I have taken on board what some of you have said about accupunture and I'm going to give a go will let you all know how I get on.

Thank you for tracking me down much appreciated. I never came back on as I was made to feel by the all the docs I've seen that it was all in my head but from all these replies I now see it's not. It has done my head in over the years. Specialists are keen to do all the tests i.e camera down ( about 3 times) and the ph 24 monitor which was horrendous they persuade you to do all these which are horrendous and then give you no solution apart from take meds and swap you about from one med to the next. I am only 46 and have week bones which I was told only the other week by a Nurse at my practise was probably due to the long term use of these meds. Great I'm thinking. So I'm glad I have now come back on here and going to give the accupuncture a go Thanks so much Katkit for tracking me down and please let me know how you get on I know how desperate it can feel to be in this position. I send you my best wishes and hope you can get some resolution

When I had the 24 hour Hp test they said my thingy muscle was too tight so could make the situation worse I was devasted when they told me after this test as I didn't want the test in the first place and actually had a panic attack before the test and had to be coax by the Nurse to go ahead with it and was told just have the test then they can fix everything and then to be told that afterwards has left me with no confidence in the whole medical proffession loads of unpleasant tests to be no better off at the end of it.

The thing thats so annoying for me apart from the pain is I used to be so healthy diet full of fruit and veg. Love fruit but very limited to the amount of fruit I can eat now citrus is a no no and at this time of year when clemetines and tangerines look so lovely, I do occassionally indulge knowing I'm gonna suffer the pain but double up on the tablets. One thing I do find helps is I have a bowl of natural porridge oats made with water first thing in the morning. I have also changed to lactose free milk.
