Help

Has anyone out there with a Hiatus Hernia experienced what feels like heartburn in your back and left arm. I have been diagnosedwith a Hiatus Hernia and take 30mg of Lansoprazoleonce a day and 10 of Motilium 3 times a day. But it doesn't seem to help the pain I have. I have had pain every single day for the past 2years and swapped between meds i.e omeprazole etc but nothing seems to work. I lot of the symptoms on research only states chest but I get it bad in my upper back around that knot thing in your kneck then it goes down my arm. Just wondered if anyone else has had this. Before I was diagnosed I thought I was dying I had seen every consultant you can imagine from heart, back brain to stomach. The docs seem to think now I know what it is I should feel less anxitey, well I don't as still feel really bad pain every day and meds not working.

Glad you came across it Katharine.  The pain in my chest was so bad that I would be rolling around on the bed balling my eyes out and as soon as it stopped the crying would stop.  It was horrendous pain.

I’m so glad I found this, I’ve been suffering from these same problems for years, and have been to the ER multiple times thinking it was heart issues, even spent Christmas in the hospital one year, never had an angiogram but had echocardiogram and stress test and ecg done and they say my heart looks ok, anyway I just woke up with the burning under the ribs and back pain tonight at 2am and went to get into a hot bath as sometimes it helps, then stumbled across this post! It has caused me depression and I have gone from being a fit guy to a fat slump as I feel I can’t workout anymore. I do manage to get through work 3 days a week. I try to eat healthy but it doesn’t matter what I eat if it’s going to flair up it’s going to no matter what, also I get horrible cramps in my right calf that wake me up at night and sometimes I get them sitting in my chair but most of the time at night, good luck to everyone having this problem I feel your pain even though I don’t have a hiatal hernia diagnosis after reading this I’m getting a feeling that is it!

Yes I would definitely ask for an Endoscopy to see if there is a hernia.  I occasionally got it in the middle of the night but more often it was after I ...sorry about this..... emptied my bowels.  So I would say it was a certain twisting movement set it off and caused the stomach to herniate into the oesophagus.  Hope you get a good result.  Once I started the tablets I have never had even an inkling of a pain.
