High normal calcium blood levels

Hi ladies, Do any of you have high but still in range calcium levels?

Looking over my blood work from last week. Mine is 10.3...range goes up to 10.4

The past couple of years it has been in the 10's. I read up last year on parathyroid disease. Had mine tested last year (PTH) and it was ok. Last year it was 10.2. I read that calcium levels for adults over 35 should always be in be 9's. Higher can either be parathyroid tumor(non cancerous), kidney stones (my kidneys are fine, or osteoporosis. (late stage cancer patients have very high calcium levels, but over 12-14).

I am going to ask my gyno to do a bone density scan. Also, ask my neuro about it. My primary dr only sees it in range and did not contact me. The symptoms of high calcium are fatigue, aches, pains, neuro and cognitive issues. These go hand in hand with meno too. Also, I have vestibular migraine. But, I still do not like that my calcium levels are that high and I feel awful every day at 41.

It also has nothing to do with calcium intake...even if I drank a gallon of milk before the test! Anybody have any thought or experience with parathyroid, high calcium, osteoporosis?

Hello my friend Lou, i had the same calcium levels and I am only 32 years old.

Symptoms of low calcium are awful. I did the test on day 3 of my period when my estradiol are extremely low. During my period my bones are aching so much. I believe that there is a strong correlation between estradiol and calcium.

I think that cheese is better absorbed rather than milk.

Try to eat more cheese and pineapple!!!!!

Hi Evi! I think my levels are fine...sometimes it is hard to have so many symptoms and on certain days I get the boo-hoo's. I love cheese and pineapple...but only sparingly (migraine trigger). I don't know if you saw my FSH post last week...it came back at 170...crazy high...no results came back for my estrogen. At this point, I assume a flea has more estrogen than me! no period since Jan. 5... going back to obgyn in a couple of weeks. How have you been??

      Dear Lou,

So sorry to read all you have! Pray for you! I have a lot of symptoms like you. I have Hyperthyroidism! I have found when I control my hyperthyroidism my symptoms got improved 70%. I have high calcium within normal range. I believe it is related to thyroid. I have found when women have thyroid problem, they suffer much more than other women. We have to treat both thyroid and female hormone unbalance. I have tried a lot of things by myself. I have found only I deal with both thyroid and female hormone at same time, I have 80% my normal self. Otherwise, pain all around my body. Dr gave a name fibromyalgia. Hormone is too powerful!

Hi Lucy, thank you! I just do not know which way is up anymore. Last year I did a lot of research on parathyroid (the little glands behind out thyroid. They regulate calcium in the blood stream. They can grow benign tumors and produce too much PTH hormone. Every symptom matched, but my levels came back right in the middle range which is good. Yet, I read that anytime our calcium levels are in the 10s parathyroid should be considered. My thyroid levels are good. My FSH though was crazy high, I really need to accept that I have vestibular migraine, and peri and it just is awful. I am on medication, doing the best I can to follow drs advice is is just exhausting. Sorry you are having troubles too. I lost almost 20 pounds last year...trying to get it back on has been a struggle..gained a few pounds back, but I lost a lot of muscle. I am not very active now, I get very dizzy and off balanced.

      Hi Lou,

So sorry you are still suffering all the symptoms. Did you take your thyroid iodine uptake test? You know my thyroid blood work came back in normal high range, but my iodine is elevated. This is how I found I had hyperthyroidism. But my doctor does not know what is going to do, so I have to do something by myself!

    Hi Lou,

I have high calcium within normal range too. My ferritin is always high and out off range. I am not sure it is because my hyperthyroidism causes high ferritin, or my inflammation causes it, or it causes inflammation. Where is this high ferritin or calcium comes from? Maybe both come from thyroid disorder. Did you check your ferritin? Or all these are just processing of menopause?

Hello! I looked at my blood work...ferritin not taken this time (2 weeks ago) But, last July it was 99.6 lab range 15-150. I guess mine looks good. So, you have high iron on your blood then? I saw your post about CK...I do not see that in my tests...

It seems your thyroid is fine. My one is not because I have nodules in it.
