High pitched tone in my head all the time

I've been suffering from this serious problem 24/7 for years. It sounds very much like yours. It's  a constant, oscillating high pitched tone that changes in volume and intensity and generally aligns with the rhythm of my pulse. (Of course I know about pulsatile tinnitus. It seems ridiculous to label this as tinnitus, as it appears to have nothing to do with my "hearing".) Many times it is accompanied by a cacophony of multiple high pitched tones that seem to bounce around in my head and are entirely irregular in rhythm. It's utterly tormenting and disturbing and has become worse over the years. I also have a strange 24/7 brain throbbing pain.

I had a series of tests done. Ultimately an MRI with a dye showed an unusual and abnormal brain mass in my white matter with several other less unique abnormalities.

Sleep without medication is basically impossible. I haven't had decent/quality sleep in decades and am lucky to get knocked out via sleep med for 2 hours. As soon as the med wears off, the pain and noises wake me up.

I've spent years trying to find out what this really is: brain mass, multiple concussions, outside elements, a Verizon building across the street full of frequency emitting equipment, etc? Have you heard of the HARP project in Alaska? There's a frequency being sent into the upper atmosphere by our government. Don't ask me why they're doing this. Many people believe it's effecting them in negative ways. At this point, I'm not sure what to believe or take seriously. 

I wish I could help you, but I'm at a total loss. I've pursued medical assistance and many types of alternative treatments, and it appears to be getting worse as I get older. I have complete empathy for you. I know that doesn't help. Though sometimes it seems to be a little comforting to know that you are not entirely alone. Thank you for giving me this.

Multiple high pitched noise all the time. & colors some time when eyes closed. Can't concentrate. MRI showed nothing. Driving me crazy. If I do fall asleep it starts immediately when I wake.

I wish I could help you, but there seems to be very little assistance for this particular type of misery. Did you have an MRI with dye? My white matter mass is called "abnormal" and "unusual". 

What exactly are you hearing? Is it wavering, high pitched single or multiple  tones? 

There is a Facebook group for people with pulsatile tinnitus. I think it's called Whooshers. You might want to check that out.

I know how tormenting this is, and how many doctors have no clue as to it's origin and/or continuous pattern.

Do you have a headache, or is "it" a headache?

I think it's even more painful that other people can't relate to this. Hey, at this stage I'm searching for anything that might help.

Sorry to bother you with a question, but can tone(s) in your head ever not pulse/waver?  This happens to me, particularly during the start of the day. It's one loud wall of a high pitched tone (like a hearing test sound). It doesn't follow my pulse or change pitch. Just very curious how pulsatile tinnitus can have nothing to do with my pulse.

Hi, I just joined this forum to add my tuppence worth.. Since i was 13 years old, a long long time ago!!!  I have had tinnitus in one ear, or both ears on and off, ranging from a whooshing that sounded like a space ship taking off, to a screaming, to a whistle.  However, about a year and half ago now, that changed, the ringing in my ears stopped and I thought finally!!! relief right?  Erm.. no.. then began this most extraordinarily extreme high pitched tone in the middle of my head, i cannot pick a point of origin as it just emanates throughout my brain constantly and there is no relief.  It is enough to drive anyone to the edges of insanity.  I have also looked to try and find out what it is, and though my GP insists its tinnitus, I have had tinnitus for years, and this is not that.  So what is it?  I don't know but I do know they do send signals around the planet, so who knows if we are tuning into that.. but it sure would be extremely nice for it just to go, so i can be present in my reality 24/7 instead of in this screeching noise in my head.

Lyme disease and co-infections. If you haven’t already you should be tested by a Lyme literate dr. I was extremely sick w Lyme and babesia. Ringing, noises, pulsing, in my head with ringing, fullness, heartbeat, pain, and other noises in me ears along with headaches and a slew of other problems  were all part of the bacteria induced infection. It causes inflammation throughout the body/brain. I remember times when my brain literally felt like it was sloshing around inside my skull. Once I was properly diagnosed and treated, it for the most part went away. Not completely eradicated, but do much better than what it was. 

This problem seems to spreading lately. I saw my primary physician last month. An assistant does a short check in before I see the doctor. She does my BP, weight, etc. I always mention the irritating noise(s) and don't normally get much of a response. When I mentioned it during this visit, she said a number of patients are now complaining of it. 

I definitely believe it has something to do with a sensitivity to all the frequency saturation. I'm really apprehensive about the 5G systems that will be going up. 

Oddly last month, my problem got significantly better on a Sunday night. It was as if it had literally been dialed down, wondrous  tranquility and heavenly quiet.  I haven't experienced that in decades. This phenomenon lasted 8 days, and then it came back with a vengeance.  What a nightmare! I'm not even sure how I function at this stage. The quality and quantity of sleep I get seems to hurt more than it helps. The absolute worst part of my day is when I wake up. It takes me hours to get moving. This has gotten so bad, that I've become phobically frightened of sleep. I also find myself yelling during conversations, as I can't gauge the volume of my own voice. It's just easier not to have conversations. The isolation here is pretty disproportionate. How can you have anything resembling a "normal" life when you're being hammered at all times?  At this point, I'm somewhat surprised I haven't  got Morgellons yet! (I'm scared that my next problem might be finding colored fibers growing out of my skin.) Hey...maybe we all have alien DNA, and we're morphing into our truer bodies! 👽😱

I know I don't have Lyme disease, as I've had all kinds of tests. What I do have is this torture treatment that never stops. It's like my own head is kicking my own ass! 

Sorry I still haven't found any help for you guys either. I'd love to know exactly why this is happening to us. Thanks so much for your input. There is a certain comfort in knowing I'm not the only one. This kind of problem is not just challenging to live with, it's also very difficult for people to understand when they've never experienced it.  Thanks again folks. xo

I have just stumbled across this forum because the high pitched pulsing in my head every night is starting to concern me.

I am suprised and a bit relieved(sorry) that there are others with the same experience!

Mine begins the minute the house is quiet, usually when I lie down and close my eyes but once I tune into it, it stays. I would describe it like the old computer games loading up with a non pattern of high pitched usually monotone pulses and sustained pitches.

Like somebody else has mentioned, I thought I was receiving some signal from space or picking up data from a device. In fact I am almost convinced it is emanating from electrical devices in or near my house.

One point just to add to this.

When I was a young boy, I had a strange ability to know for certain whether my parents were in based on the fact that I knew if the TV was on. I could sense whther the television was on from down the street though which was pretty impressive for my friends at the time!

I don't know whether these things are linked but it seems as though they are?

I am reluctant to go to the Docs with this as I am worried I will get pidgeoned holed as a lunatic!!

I get the same high pitched noise in my head. I am up in Ontario Canada near a big city. I use to live up North near Barrie Ontario and the noise was low level not so bothersome but moved closer to the big city and the noise got louder and worse and more bothersome affecting every day life. I heard that video on You Tube and that noise is exactly the same so THANK YOU can we try to stop this by finding out who or what is transmitting this frequency all over the place. It is driving people nuts I wish i was one of the people that cant hear it.  Report this
