gosh your poor thing
i also had hip displasure and have had 6 hip replacements over ten years , although the last year... had a infection that was inside my replacement after a revision 3.5 years ago , which was found 2018 march , 1st surgery JULY 2018 to remove infection and take implant out , on anti biotic pik line for 6 weeks , then dislocated twice 2 weeks then again 5 days later . That was soooo painful cannot even say but you know now ., put in hip brace and sent hometo be careful ( like your not ah )
2nd stage in November 2018 with custom implant , better recovery this time but still ended up in individual care , blood pressure problems .
Boxing day a month later dislocated again ! could not believe it .
hip brace etc again
3 months later dislocated again 4 th time , i was devastated
I then had to have another surgery to stop it coming out which was in April , i am now 5.5 months post op . I still have pain and ache and am sure my nerves in and around hip are rubbing against implant , I manage with medication , keep walking and doing exercisers that my surgeon told me to do . You have to build all the muscle that has been pulled and cut and torn , it all needs to recover and that is time unfortunately .
I get helped by our medical system in NZ called ACC under medical injury
Pain is very draining physically and mentally as is dealing with surgeries
I feel for you and what you have been through and still are
I am told it gets better so hang in there
all the best

Where do you live? i am in the UK. in 2016 I got total incapacity benefit (TIB) after leaving work because my osteo-athritis was so bad . I have received my pension ever since. Needless to say life is less stressful, pain levels are more manageable and my quality of life is better than i could have hoped for. My employer sent me to be seen by the Occupational Therapy team and their doctors and the final decisions are based solely on the medical evidence provided and submitted by your employer and you do not have the option of being seen by the pension scheme MA.
Can you access Occupational Therapy?

Sounds like you are in Canada. cpp will require a form to be filled out by your doctor. Also if cpp is not enough to live on you will probably be eligible for a provincial disability. In Ontario it is called ODSP. Ontario Disability Support Program. So sorry to hear you are having these problems. I wish you well.

Go ahead and try it sounds as if you should get something, if they say no you can always try again.

What a sad and distressing situation! Both my daughters were born with hip dysplasia, but fortunately both were diagnosed as infants. After the experience with my first daughter, when my second was born I insisted that she be x-rayed even though the doctor saw no reason to do so. Sure enough, she had it too though to a lesser extent. So, it appears that doctors do not pay enough attention to this possibility until it is too late to be easily fixed. And Nicole's story shows what a devastating impact this can have. I do hope that you are eventually able to find a doctor with the answers and expertise that you need.

My first daughter was put in traction at about six months of age. Then she was in a cast for a few weeks. After that she wore a hip brace 24/7 until she was a year old and after that she wore it at night for several more months. My second daughter just wore the hip brace. Neither one of them has had any issues. Both have children. One is a talented equestrian. The other one plays tennis.

i am so sorry
i live in constant fear of dislocation 4 is well enough !
is hard as noone knows what to say or really help you , i felt like a floundering fish out of water .
try keep up with muscle rebuilding , and walk as much as you are able .
and be mindful of everything around you so you dont fall or twist etc , be careful standing from a sitting position as well and dont cross your legs .
have you had a xray yet ?
Also did you have ceramic on ceramic ? as my left is and it makes heaps of noise but apparently thats normal with it .
day by day nicole
