Hi Gail that must have been absolutely horrendous for you, so I'm presuming your still in hospital, have they given you advice how to stop it happening again, maybe you did something that slipped it out, does your chair go down at the back, did you turn

      Hi Alexandria

I was sat just as I have being doing since discharge.

Its an up right chair loaned from a friend who also had a hip replacement and I was just sat talking to my daughter then it just crunched and bang out if the socket. Yes still in hospital.

You poor thing, I broke mine and I think that dislocation must be as bad if not worse, what it does is slips onto the edge of the socket, best thing to do is try not to move so you don't make it come completely out, if you take your time and ask about a hip brace to make sure you don't do anything to cause it to happen again

Oh no! That is awful! I'm not quite 2 weeks post thr.

Did they say what caused it to dislocate? What do you have to do now?

    So sorry!!

Oh Gail. I am so sorry that this has happened to you. For some unknown reason this can happen to any of us. At least they managed to put the hip back and you haven't needed a revision.

I can only imagine what you must be feeling right now but you will soon be up to speed again. My neighbour did same of you and had it put back. Her biggest problem has been that she is too scared to move, go out or be left alone. She is nearly 80yrs.

Please don't do like her. Take your time but keep moving forward. Your new hip itself is obviously fine it will just be muscles/tissue etc that may groan for a few days.

Just be positive and dust yourself down go forward.

    Thinking of you.

      Thanks Sandra,

I know what neighbour means I'm so scared and they said it could happen again so that as scared me even more.

The hospital where I had the op has phoned and will call again so hopefully my consultant may be able to shed some light on it,so sad Samdra things were getting there less pain and a little more sleep now in agony and can't sleep.

      Much love

As Richard also talks about, it's our muscles that hold hip in place so although now frightened, once your pain is sorted, you will have to walk and do whatever necessary to strengthen your muscles. This will reduce chance of it happening again.

It will be a balance between staying safe but still doing things.

I hope you are out of pain soon and feel better in yourself.

You have z lot of support on here so come and chat anytime.

Afternoon Gail.  So sorry about what happened.  Is this maybe a low chair that possibly breaks the 90 degree rule?   I dislocated my hip possibly at the same time frame as you if not sooner.  But I walked and exercised on it like that, dislocated, for a week or so before it was discovered it was dislocated.   Dr couldn't pop my back in had to have a total hip revision 3 weeks later.   Non weight bearing and no hip exercises or hip flexion past 80 degrees for 6 weeks.   What is your dr saying??   God's blessings to you for healing.   I know it's hard.  Let us know how you're doing. Hugs 🤗 Linda
