That's awful Gail especially as you were not doing anything at the time.  I nearly slipped on the stairs this morning as my crutch missed the stair with my weight on it.  It jarred my new hip and I am now getting some pain from it whereas I had non before.  I hope it is alright, I am really frightened of dislocation.  Hope you feel better soon, cheer up.

      Thank you Chritine.

The pain is like nothing I have ever experienced before so hopefully you have just jarred your hip.

hope you have a speedy recovery

    Dear Gail

I'm so sorry that this happened to you too. It seems that it is very easily done.

For me I happened just over a week after my hip revision surgery. I was sitting in a correct height swivel office chair. I reached to in front of me and picked up a small bottle of water gentle swung around and as I put the bottle down in front of me a seating pain from my hip made me drop the bottle.

I ended up in my local hospital but by the time X rays were done the hip was back in place all on it's own.

Well I think was very lucky to have got away with it. What can be learnt from this?Be very careful to observe the ninety degree rule, carefully do your exercises to build up the muscles that holds the hip in position.

I got through it and I'm sure you will too.

    All the best, Richard

    Hello gail42627

I am sorry to read of your horrendous pain.  You appear to have done everything correctly so it may just have been bad luck.  I hope the hip is going to behave now that it has been put back in place   All the very best.

    Hi gail

im sorry to her about your dislocation.  I can't believe it happening when you hadn't done anything to cause it.

i had my hip dislocate last May but I was bending in the garden taking heads of the dandelions.  I thought I was safe to do it at 15 months post op.

Once it is put back in it makes you wary about what to do.  I wish you all the best with your recovery.

could be a ball and cup not properly sized. Maybe the ball is to small, OR the cup is to big.

If you were sitting not doing anything at all, I dunno it seems to me that the implants are not sized right. But I am not a doctor and don't even pretend to be one on tv

    I wish you well!

I really do hope that we can credit our surgical teams with checking that ball and socket are a matched pair.

    Gail,

I am so sorry this happened.  Mine dislocated 6 months after THR.  It was a week after my mother's death and I bent over to look in a low cabinet and there it went.  I was lucky to have someone with me to call the ambulance because I could not walk at all.  The pain was unlike anything I had ever experienced.  Pain shots did not help.  They put me to sleep in ER and sent me home that evening in a brace that I wore for 6 weeks.  This happened 18 months ago and I have been very cautious since.   It has not happened again.  The longer your hip is in place, the more scar tissue forms which keeps the hip secure.  It WILL get better!😀
