Hi linda
Yes sometimes I find myself tilting and then have to correct myself, on a few occasions more so recently since starting some exercises I'm finding the hip sore all the way to the bit that's in my thigh bone when I sit down.

I also had a hard area by an area of my wound (top for me) but it's ok now. I assumed it was part of the healing process. Seems that there can some "ups and downs" as far as the healing goes. Takes time.
I wrote down any concerns I had before seeing my doctor on follow-up visits.

6 weeks is still early especially on one crutch so you may have overdone things and now paying for it. I also found my wound very sore at times and a hard lump at the bottom but in time it gets softer and less tender. I rubbed in oil on mine which helped. Just remember it’s a big op and you need to pace yourself
Keep up the exercises though!

Thank you for your reply, I don't walk too far outside yet but l do set off without my sticks in the house so l thought I would try one but still use 2 at times . Its not knowing if you are doing things you shouldn't sometime. I sleep better though now . I will use 2 sticks till I see the consultant thanks

Hi Linda, I'm at exactly the same stage as you and have exactly the same symptoms as you, I was going to post today but its like you read my mind! I've been using one or no sticks round the house but still use two when I go out. I find sitting for any longer than half an hour really uncomfortable. I've got a physio appointment on Monday so will ask then. I was led to believe that I'd be back at work around 6 weeks in but I really don't feel up to it at all and am getting really frustrated and depressed. I'm so pleased I found this forum today. I just don't know what to do, should I be resting more or doing more? I don't think the literature I was given by the hospital had realistic expectations at all.

Just read your post. I think 6 weeks is optimistic for going back to work. And driving is not recommended until 12 weeks. You do need to be careful go No down to one crutch unless you are really stable or you start to limp and you don’t want that long term. I got very down and frustrated lots of tears and tantrums especially when I dropped things or needed help to get my pressure socks on! You do need to be kind to yourself so take it easy

I think a lot of people are given the OK to drive at six weeks and in some cases earlier if they have an automatic and left hip done if in UK. As long as you can make an emergency stop OK. I drove at six weeks and felt that it helped exercise my legs and build up strength. I am not very good at getting in and out of the car though.

I bought a Car Cane Portable Handle that make It easier to get in/out of the car.
It fits in the door latch of the car so you can lean on it to move in/out of car. Really help a lot with stability. I keep it in pocket of door, but it can fit in other nearby areas of the car. Even though I do much better now, I use it if I'm extra achy after long time of walking that day or stiffness when getting out of car.
You can find them online if you look.

As we know, takes time in all areas of recovery. You'll get there. I had a difficult time with it for awhile, too.
