Hi Debbie I hope that you are feeling better, as I type this, the important thing right now just after the operation is the bed exercise squeeze your leg into the mattress as often as you can stand and hold it there for about 10 seconds at a time it is hard but works...I am following this so if you have any questions just message me I had both sides done three years ago and am sore to all OK still issues as it goes...

Five weeks post op and day after i got home leg swelled and went black and blue. Normal as had overdone activity causing little cut veins and lymph channels to seep into tissue. Iced elevated leg and it all went down. See bonesmart.org website.

    This will pass.

For swelling, the usual advice is "ice and elevation", which helps with the bruising that most of us have after this rather brutal operation.

HI My leg was swollen for three weeks. due to inactivity the other leg swelled as well. this is major surgery and swelling to be expected just keep aware regarding advice on dvt etc although this is rare. keep up the physio stuff and be as mobile as possible this helped me.
